Sorry for to hear, Cycleman. Broken ribs can be very uncomfortable.
When I broke mine for the first time, I was taking flying lessons at the time and had at that point, never taken any kind of pain killers in my life.
Went to A&E, they looked at and went "Well, it might be bruised or it might be broken"..I knew it was broken as I could feel it moving!.
Anyway, they prescribed me some painkillers. At the pharmacy, I asked "I'm flying this weekend, can I still take these?"
She went "Sure! No problem". A couple of days later, I managed to realy re-tweak it, got searing pain and popped one of the pain killers....and shortly after I was conked out on the sofa and figured I should most definitely not fly on these!
It took me awhile to figure out that the pharmacist obviously thought I meant going flying as a passenger, not as a pilot...
