Is anyone thinking of a launch at The Roundabout of Prodigal Sons tomorrow evening with a view to riding to a not too distant pub?
I was thinking of arrival at POW for 8pm

PoW is too far for me, no worries I'll see what the destination is next week.  Have fun!  :-*
Suppose we could relocate to the Hurdlemakers and see if they have any festival beers left

Hurdlemakers suits me but don't change plans just to accommodate my whims.

Hope to be out. Hurdlemakers good especially if they've left overs - having missed the real deal on Sunday.

Hurdlemakers is still a bit far east, without car assist.

So Western contingent will stick with the Dukes Head at HBO, 8:30 ish arrival.

I can ride this week so somewhere with an easy return to $hitham as I'll not want to be late back.

Hampered by that footie thing this week, 8pm kick off...

I bumped in to JenM today ascending Graces and I was heading down it and we really should try for a Maldon pub whilst it's still summer! Perhaps not this week, but lets see when we might fit it in :)

I also encountered 2 none UK riders (Dutch & French) enjoying the full NCN1 route experience, one Jen had already bumped in to trying to get his trailer (with dog in it!) over the narrow bridge at Sandon Mill.  When I met him, he was in the middle of a field of wheat and had traversed 2 bridges, one with significant set of steps either side and the other a narrow bridge with styles either end! How he managed that with a fully loaded tourer and trailer plus dog I dont know!

Joergen

Has potential, but I am not sure I fancy testing the driving skills of post footie drunkards on my ride home....

I’m happy to take my chances and ride to / from The SH if anyone else fancies it. Or I’m up for alternative ideas.

I’m still undecided about attending the SH this evening, depends how the work day pans out. If I can leave early enough to arrive sometime between 7 and 8 I may see you there or just suffer alone in front of the footie at home

There is usually temporary metal fencing to shackle bikes to, outside and out of sight of the inner festival compound. There are hundreds of bikes locked up there, similar to PBP/LEL arrangements.

Bring your dirtiest, least attractive bike. I'd use at least two locks and remove luggage and lights. Most of the machines parked there are 'student/pub/shopping/station bikes' of very low value and dubious roadworthiness so a decent one will stand out ...

Also keep some saddlebag space for the souvenir glass and something to protect it with on the way home.
