What are you baking today?

Parkin. I didn't check the golden syrup tin before I started, and there was hardly any it, so this year's parkin is mainly treacle-based.

I'm experimenting with adding the left-over pulp from E's crab-apple jelly making to bread dough.  It's nearly ready to go in the oven.

I thought  I’d have another go at my Fruit and Cinnamon T cakes. My first attempt, last week, was a disaster. I haven’t made any bread for a long time but thought I’d have another go. I bought some flour and fruit but thought I’d be ok for yeast as I still had some in the cupboard. I know yeast is alive but this was dried and still in its tin so hoped it would be ok. No! There was no movement at all. Even so I still carried on hoping that some kneading and heat from the oven would help. No!
Anyway I bought some quick acting Yeast and todays T cakes are a success.

Tastes alright.  No obviously apple taste.  Strangely, I forgot the salt and it has made very little difference.
