For those who particularly struggle in the heat, I would recommend a nice cold flannel around the back of the neck, or even cold running water on the inside of your wrists, as it's proximity to major vessels helps to give a nice feeling of coolness.

If you are able to roll your tongue (and don't have issues with asthma etc), do try Yoga Sitali breath:

it may look silly while doing this, but it actually works somewhat well!  (Excepting if your genetics means that you cannot roll your tongue...)

And that magically increases the cooling of the body?:D
Presumably in the same way it works for dogs.

Panting (circulation of air) and evaporation of liquid on the tongue are the main ways for dogs to cool down.  I can't see how having a tiny bit of your tongue poking out would help a human. If it really worked, you should get a much better effect by extending it all the way out.

The lungs have a large surface area and panting could offer this, rather than the (relatively tiny) tongue for evaporative cooling.

You'd need fairly dynamic circulation and a decent water intake for this.

It'd bugger up your blood pH in short order thobut.  Dogs are presumably adapted to that.

They're certainly not panting. They are deliberately drawing in air over a curled tongue, which presumably maximises the tongue's surface exposed to air flow. Sticking it all the way out would expose more tongue but not to concentrated air flow. But regardless of the breathing and evaporation effects, another thing they're doing is sitting still, being calm and concentrating without strenuous exertion. Doing that on a hot day, especially in a shady place, should give you a chance to cool down after cycling, harvesting coconuts or whatever.
