Android phone battery management app and rooting
« on: 16 August, 2017, 09:42:18 am »
I'm looking for an app which allows you to set the level of charge that you want to put into the battery.  I'm thinking of playing with the old S4 and trying apps which let you limit the charge to say 80% max.   I'm also looking to root the phone and see if it has more life as a result.

Anybody got any experience of either which they would recommend please?

To satisfy my curiosity why do you want to limit the charge?

because I want to experiment with the theory that not fully charging / fully depleting the battery increases it's operational life.   It is a theory which many electric car users subscribe to.   I want to dabble.

Quite a few of the phones do this as a normal feature. My new phone also does slow charging as standard - you can opt to fast charge but slow charging prolongs battery life.

No suggestions or experience for rooting?
