What colour should I have a 1994 Kona Kilauea?

UK spec was all-over silver, which the frame currently is.  Boring and shows rust speckles like nothing else.

US spec was gold.  Better.

1991 Cinder Cones were gold with black forks and black stem.  I like that.

Another option is a very deep blue - there's no actual precedent for this but I think it would look good.

This is a skinny-tubed MTB (Tange Prestige Concept, shaped tubing and lightweight) and here's a picture of a standard UK one (with optional suspension - mine has rigid P2 forks, which is kind of the point in doing it).

The 1994 bikes are interesting because, although they lost the nice oval coloured decals used on the 1991-93 bikes, they were the last ones actually designed by Joe Murray, whose name featured heavily on the earlier bikes.  He left Kona in 1993 after designing the new range.  Kilaueas fitted in between the Cinder Cone and Explosif in the range, and the 1994 model used tubing previously only available on the (very expensive) Explosif, which had moved onto Tange Ultimate.

Leave the frame as it is and get EVERYTHING ELSE purple-anodised.

Either that, or get the frame painted purple too, just for good measure.

Purple will never die! :o

I like the dark green that the Explosif came with. And gold or orange logos.  ;)

The '97 Cinder Cone was a lovely matt royal blue with (I think) bronze or dark grey forks.

That might look better on the next model down in Kona's 1994 Range, the AA

That's unfortunate.

I bought a Kona AA (pronounced ah-ah apparently) new in 1994 after my 1990 paint splatter Lava Dome was nicked. At £999, it was the most expensive bike I'd owned until I started playing with Moultons a couple of years ago. I still have the AA at the back of the garage - it's in bits but all original part from the saddle and bar grips. Nice bike - must put it back together one day...

pronounced ah-ah apparently

But usually spelled ʻaʻā, from the Hawaiian for stony lava.  I daresay Joe Murray opted for the Anglicised version for simplicity and marketability.
