As much as I would love to home commitments rule this year and I have a reasonably full Audax calendar over March/April that is already raising eyebrows.

It does sound like it will be a cracking time though!

Any plans this week? I am working from home on Thursday so could potentially be up for an evening out if all goes to plan.

I raised this with navigation sub-committee chair this morning (DL).  He is on standby duty for Trent Lane's arrival so may not be out but we thought somewhere north of Witham would be about right.  Don't know if Chappel, Earls Colne area is about right.  We went to the Pattiswick Compasses last year but it was a bit soulless.

No need for the venue to be near the mainline then  :P

I'm not sure I fancy slepping back from Earls Colne/Chappel after 11 at night, somewhere closer to home is more traditional for the winter months, such as Braintree.  Or, just have a single refreshment and start back if 60/70km is what the group wants to do.
Not sure why I'm bothering to comment anyway....I'll probably have to work again....

That's fine if the consensus is to go to Earls Colne/Chappel, I can plan my evening accordingly

I can plan my evening accordingly

If that plan includes a local train station could I point you in the direction of OD of this parish who should know all the local mainline and branch line stations within a short riding distance  :-\

Right, so Chappel etc too far for a February ride, seems right enough.

Coggeshall ?  Somewhere round Braintree ?

I was just trying to move us around a bit.

Also trying to avoid another default trip to Littley Green  :P

It does make sense to end up not too far from Witham.

We ought to go to The Rodney more often, it's a nice pub.

Sounds like we might have a winner... I'm in the London Village again, but hoping to escape with enough time and sufficiently recovered from man-flu to partake... need to think about my route, though I suppose it could be as simple as ride to TMNH and keep going up and down till I can no longer ride up and down it....
