I run marathons on both my bikes. Puncture free but I bloody hate them. Its like having intercourse wearing one of those medieval pig's bladder condoms...................I reckon.

Excellent!  I've just promoted you to ACME's Head of Sexual Health and Family Planning. Tomsk will give you a list of bus shelters where you'll have to install pig's bladder vending machines.

Yeah, those Marathon Pluses are brilliant for not getting punctures but agree the ride quality is somewhat impacted. They also caused havoc with one of my hand built wheels due to how tight they were, they literally took 2/3 of the tension out of the spokes and it caused some of the nipples to loosen. Durano Pluses seem a good compromise for my 'Audax bike' until I have enough confidence to try tubeless again.

On my commuting bike I love the marathons.....glass, screws, nails I've ridden over all of them and not had a p******e in about 4 years. I have a spare set in the garage but I reckon it will be at least another 2 years before I need them.

Bontrager R3's are what I had on for PBP and for a light and fast tyre I have been surprised that they seem to hold up well to the Essex/Suffolk/Norfolk roads as well....although I have only really used them in summer conditions with some sealant in the tubes.

I might treat myself to some Durano pluses I've liked them before.

 Just in case you weren't aware they do the 28 (Non Folding only) with the reflective stripe around them. Not all shops sell them but they are easy enough to find.

I don't have much cycling mojo at the moment in this heat...

(whispers back) It might be wet, and I am trying to stay off the booze....

As criminal as it is to not be awheel on a warm hot summer evening I'm not going to make it out this evening, I'm blaming man flu

In other news the brevets from ACME's inaugural audax events day have been validated and returned, I must have done something right as a rookie organiser.  Maybe you will also have them next week to put in to your shiny new ACME jersey pocket  :D

I'm not out tonight - working.
The ride to work was rather warm, taking the coast road was a bit cooler but the final leg inland from Maldon over North Hill felt like harder work than usual.

As it happens, as I had a few days off recently, I spent some time on it. It's nearly ready for me to show those who want to add some content to it. I suggest an evening in a pub with my laptop some time soon...

Also - I note it's teh Witham Beer fest this weekend (though its not a CAMRA event Boooo  :'( )

Richard reckons he's going to drink the place dry of larger on Friday.

Any other votes for particular days (suspect Saturday may be manic?)

I might be tempted to venture East....

I was mildly surprised to see no members of the ACME massive at the Compasses beer festival on Sunday, round about lunchtime ...

S'pose you'd probably all been before half the beers had run out, mind.
