Here is a meandering proposed ROUTE to The Orange Tree which the Witham peloton might like to follow.

You two have a death wish. Isn't the bit from the bridge over the River Can up to and across Parkway to London Road, one way against you?

I know I'm over-scrutinising the route, it doesn't really matter. I thought I'd just ask, are those farm roads around Ulting tarmaced or COR?

They are all much traveled, much loved, standard hardtop thoroughfares, properly adopted as Queen's highways.  You'll find no dragons, brigands, fantastical beasts so all will be well.  Probably.

Update on road condition (as of tonights extended commute):
Bumford Lane (aka Bumfords Lido) is dry, a few damaged edges to the tarmac which aren't a problem, the mud from the banks which the twats in tin boxes have ploughed onto the tarmac (avoiding the edges) is easily passable. Recommend robust tyres that can survive the inevitable flints mixed in with the fresh mud.
Spotsmans Lane - alternative to Bumfords Lane - avoid, features a well established stream across the road in places with algae to aid with lack of grip on the long term frost damaged knackered bits.

No worries, my knackered bits are already frost damaged.

I've retrieved your panniers, shall I bring them tonight?

I'll change bikes to one that can take the panniers for tonight's outing, bring them along.

I have long maintained that the Ordnance Survey visited that area during a period of drought and thereby erroneously marked Sportsman's Lane down as a road instead of a stream.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Yes, I thought it looked wetter than a whales armpit.

I'm looking forward to OD negotiating it this evening.

Photos please :-)

Might need jibers to knock up a night vision camera on his 3D printer, but surely that should be straightforward.

I'm not out tonight due to a conference call ... the joys of voluntary work! Also not out next week, but hoping for a change of venue on 28th Nov to somewhere reasonably accessible to all.

Kings Head Tollesbury next week then and The Hoop, Stock the week after (unless anyone has a report on The Hoop not being a good venue??)
