That's fine by me. Meet at Darlo station, Victoria Road entrance (under the clock tower, through the subway from the platforms).

Wander out to the Crown? I haven't been there in a while.

Sorry guys, I reckon I'm out.  Cycling still hurts too much :(

Ah well - the Crown'll still be there. I'd say meet up for a pre-ride beer, but it's a bit far to go for that. And we have quite a poor record at leaving pubs, so it would endanger the bike ride...

Just me n Mr T tonight, then?

We could do a wee bit of offroad, then. Just a bit, as it'll be a mudbath out there.

Looks like it, I'm easy as to what we do, be it lots of miles, or only a slack handful, on road or off.

As long as beer and chips are involved and I get back to DAR for 23:15 (for which I have orange cardboard, complete with bike booking) I don't mind!

Well, the Crown stops serving food at nine, but does the pie-anna-pint all night.

But if you want chips, we'll have to go somewhere else, cos the Crown famously Doesn't Do Chips. Its one flaw, I reckon.

I forgot the no-chips rule, The Crown is fine, I think LG may be with us with Crusty tagging along en-auto later (so we should hide in the beer garden again :) )

Yes, LG's in. And crusty's meeting us at the Crown (unless I tell him to go to a different pub...)

Crusty and LG are out to play and I can't come?  :(

I shall eat chips at home, as compensation.  Maybe.

Thanks, everyone! That was a great night out  :D

The Crown even does chips nowadays (when the fish n chip van comes in once a month).

It was good, wasn't it?

Beautiful clear skies, mild, hardly any wind (or at least none that affected us).

Fantastic company and lovely beer (a bit too much for me, my head hurts this morning!).

Even the idiot in the Peugeot at the beginning of the ride that discovered what my Apache warcry sounds like didn't put a downer on it...

It also struck me last night that, as a group we have ridden so many miles to different places, spent so long in one another's company that we are starting to know how one another will react to certain situations on the road, and adjust what we are doing automatically.

How cool is that?

This weeks is deffo on, and it should, by rights, be a trip to the Buck Inn @ Maunby, for their last ever Jam Session, and the last Thursday night for the current landlord :'( , he, and his wife, have decided to move on and the pub will be closed from Sunday for a couple of weeks for a refurb then will re-open.

Oh that's a shame - that's been a really good ride destination for a couple of years.

Sorry, I can't do this one, I'm meant to be meeting someone locally.  Not on a bike.  Shocking, I know....

Have a good evening, hope the Buck will be in good hands . . .

Mind you, if it isn't, Tiermat could always take it over and do his pulled pork sarnies.

Last nigth was fantastic, shame nearly everyone of the Thursday night possee missed it.

Myself and Mrs T set out about 18:30, heading for Maunby.

Mrs T's gears are still slipping and ghost shifting, and we still need to work a bit on her bar position, but the night was clear on the way out, we saw stars and Mrs Tigglywinkle!

We got to the pub in plenty of time to get a seat, a beer and some food.  We sat chatting, eating and drinking until the band came on, at which point Mrs T says "I've just seen another cyclist pull up", sure enough in walks a person in casual cycling gear, who turns out to be Mrs T's Ostrich.  We sat chatting to her for a while then we were both starting to feel the effects of a warm pub, too much food and maybe too much alcohol, so we decided to head off back.  It was foggy! And cold! We had a tailwind! These things together meant it took us less than 20 minutes to get the 5.5 miles back from Maunby, a new PB for Mrs T!

A grand night, and apparently the new owners are not going to change the pub side that much, but make more of the restaurant side.  The landlord seemed a bit down, for obvious reasons.
