Looks like the n+1 rule also applies to tents  ;)

Of course!

Mr R is enforcing an "n+1 = n-1" policy at the moment for tents...  :'(

When shall we see pictures of your trailer tent thingy in action?  I'm fascinated by it.  Surely it's a right pain to tow and well heavy etc.  However, I'm equally sure I'm wrong hence the fascination.

Soon - I'm hatching a plan... but it may have to wait until October.

What like towing it 50 miles off-road up the Peddars Way?  Isn't thing designed of the Aussie outback?  If so Norfolk should be a piece of pi55

I can't imagine it will be fast so I think you should give it a try.  Worst case scenario is we abandon you and you simply deploy the self leveling system, rig up the satellite dish and camp where we dump you.  You'll be fine

Of course.  How silly to forget.  It was built for Aussies.  Real men.  Not like those Kiwis... ;)

I found it hard finding a picture of my tent as I don't tend to take one of it. I usually take a picture of the view from out of the tent door and I usually manage to get one of my feet in the shot.

I have a far less exciting one of those.

Shall we have a dedicated "Pictures from a tent door" thread ...?

And ...

EDIT: sorry, I didn't realise this post was an advert for Crocs (although the blue pair are cheapo copies)

I suppose now you're going to claim the Andes are somehow more impressive than a field just outside Andover?  Tsk.

My new Mountain Equipment Dragonfly 3XT on its first outing at the White Horse Inn, Edwardstone, Suffolk on Thursday night.

Note the obligatory Crocs.

Really nice tent - very well made and feels really solid - I don't know why I bothered to guy it out actually considering there was no wind. Being a 3 person tent, it's nice and roomy for me and Mrs JT and there's enough room in the porch for Ted (the dog)'s trailer/crate while still allowing access for us and a bit more space for storage. This will be our cycle camping tent.

Was that the trip where you somehow managed to have dry socks, if nothing else, every day?  It looks distinctly chilly, but what a view to wake up to!

Vango spirit 200+ in Italy before it failed disastrously.

The spirit 200+ is a cheap Hilleberg Nallo GT copy - only they failed to copy the poles and instead decided to engineer in an angled joint in the middle of each pole to concentrate all the stress and strain. Then, they decided to make this highly stressed piece of the pole out of the same thin/lightweight aluminium as the rest of the poles. Two out of three broke within 6 weeks (tent up and down almost daily in this time).
Vango consider poles to be 'consumables' and don't warranty them. Unfortunately, the tent was bought long before it got intensive use otherwise I'd be pursuing them under the 'not fit for purpose' banner.
