Might we expect this variety in a feature that appears to be breaking up?  I've no expertise at all, though I reckon to be as accurate as the pros. without bothering to get out of bed.

Two deaths reported in Ireland: one in a car when a tree landed on it and one when clearing a fallen tree.

Stay safe you all.

The binbag full of old bedding that's stuffed up the chimney to prevent draughts is pulsating like an alien larva about to hatch.

And there was just a big gust of wind followed a suspicious double bang.

ETA: The latter appears to be a strip of those air-filled plastic packing bags which has blown into the road from some bin or other and is being run over by cars.

It's still 20°C here, despite the sun having disappeared some time ago.

Electric came back about 3 o'clock. (Well done guys).  Mobile network returned at 11 this evening.  R4 FM still down.

It worries me now that I realise how reliant this house is on electricity.  The boiler is oil fired, but obviously won't work during a power cut.

Where I was a little.
R4 would come out of toasters and washing machines or anything else with semi-conducting corrosion.

Daughter number 2 tells me that a whole summer's rain is expected in Victoria over the next 3 days that that Melbourne is on high alert for flooding.

Set off yesterday morning in vvv strong westerlies. Felt smug at identifying an outward leg with tree cover to shelter me from the winds.

A mile in: CLONK, branch lands 10' ahead of me. Now feel less smug, but lucky.

I was out yesterday as well, nothing that dramatic, but a pleasing outward average was soon destroyed.

Today is windier here, I think I'll use the turbo.

There was so much weather to fit into the Shipping Forecast this morning it sounded more like a horse race commentary.
