I'm back! Come and join me for a pint!
« on: 22 October, 2014, 10:11:11 pm »
Thursday 11th December from around 8.30pm at Wibbas Down in Wimbledon
http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-wibbas-down-inn

I may be persuaded to talk about a bike ride I just finished

Hope to see some familiar faces...

I will be there but have some questions:

  • Will this be an unbridled session with people singing and dancing?
  • Does the Wobbas Down take American Express?
  • Will I be able to put two words together the next morning?

Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to this, as I missed Rich's first welcome home drinks and celebrations.

As a friend of mine used to say,(all year round) ''If you can't have a drink at Christmas, when can you drink?

Will there be a slide show presentation?

I will put it in my diary and will be there unless I get a better offer.  ;)
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I was hoping that Rich was going to use the medium of interpretive dance...

Buy him enough pints and anything is possible.

Stranger things have happened at gatherings of long distance cyclists in South west London.

There may well be a slideshow/talk , according to what Rich has written on the Kingston Wheelers forum. :)

I may pop along but don't actually know any of you! It would be nice to meet some of the local contingent and talk cycling. How on earth will I recognise you lot? ;)

Beards? (I have one at the moment anyway!) The clack of cleats? Jaunty good looks?

Jaunty good looks  ???

Walk into pub, look for a bunch of jaded neer do wells that look like they are homeless drinkers .  That will probably the Audax crowd.

I'll be the one with dreadlocks, and a red, green and gold knitted cap...if I can find it by Thursday..

Does that not describe most people in a Wetherspoons? :p

If I make it out (I am very lazy and antisocial) I will keep an eye out for Pete Mas and also Marcus- I know what Marcus looks like, even if he doesn't know who I am! ;)

I'll be coming there straight from work, and having a bite to eat at the pub, say about 7.30pm onwards, if anyone is there early. Have put this on the Kingston Wheelers website as well.

I will try for the seats on the left as you enter the pub.

Just seen this and sadly, won't be there to cheer your achievement! Hope you had a great adventure. Very very jealous.

Saw where the venue is, and what do I do? Check out what beers Wetherspoons have on! Gawd. Anyway, it appears they have a healthy selection.
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

Yep - if you spot someone dancing with the locals, demonstrating the usage of condoms as saddle protection or any other manner of bad habits he has, you will know Hummers.  At that point, I suggest you reverse direction and run to the hills.

What on earth am I going to do in the meantime?

Depending on how things go this afternoon, I will probably come down for around 7:30-8 as well as Pete - I will need to get some tea there as well.

I shall aim for 8ish as I have a Christmas party to attend first.
