What was the last film you watched?
« on: 13 August, 2008, 12:03:24 am »
So what was the last films you watched (cinema/tv/dvd) and did you like it?

Today I watched

Made of Honour - I quited liked it, as rom coms go, it's not bad.
What happens in Vegas... - I liked this too as it was quite funny :)
PS I love you - I really liked this, sadly. It's a proper chick flick but I thought I'd check out what my last gf was on about when she went crazy over the book.
Enchanted - I didn't get on with this film, a bit too Disney for my liking but it served as good background entertainment.
Wristcutters: A Love Story - A weird and surreal film, but a good film to watch I think.
The Spiderwick Chronicles - Brilliant!

Are we talking at the cinema or DVD's?

At the cinema it was The Bank Job - violent, very colourful language but I still enjoyed it as a great example of a London heist flick (the British do these really well).

DVD's - ummmm, I haven't watched a DVD in years

Borat: unbelievably vulgar, although there were a few genuinely funny moments. The stereotypical Americans that Sasha Baron Cohen lampoons do exist, but I'm not comfortable with the way he lied to all those people to film the scenes he wanted.

Lord of the Rings (all three in the series): a pretty good retelling of Tolkien's story, but the books tell so much more.

Liz and I watched El Orfanato (The Orphanage) last night.  A very spooky and fairly disturbing ghost story, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona.

There is no truth in the rumour that I enjoy watching scpooky movies with girls, just so they jump into my arms when something scary happens  :D

What dreams may come

One of Robin Williams' smulchy ones, but rather unexpectedly, I like it.

On Monday I got back from work to find Million Dollar Baby on the TV, but I missed the start and I gave up watching before it had finished and went to bed.  I saw Chicken Run over the weekend, or rather than last hour but I've seen that before.  Hmm, so the last film I saw in its entirety was Wall-E

Million Dollar Baby is worth the effort.  Try to catch it again

One of the best recent films I've seen, but I don't watch many - see above ;D

Of what I saw of Million Dollar Baby was good, but I was knackered and the call of bed was too great.

The last thing I saw was L'heure d'ete (Summer Hours) which started off well with a superb performance from Edith Scob as an elderly woman left alone with her housekeeper in a house full of memories - except for the increasingly occasional visits of her egotistical family - but unfortunately after her character's death, became another well-acted but tedious French bourgeois family drama.

Kung Fu Panda was fun.  Entertaining without being too taxing.  I laughed out aloud a couple of times !!

Meet the Spartans  - Utter shite,  but quite funny in places, but you need to have seen 300 first

Cloverfield watched on a computer rather than the TV ( not through choice) added to the handheld ambience. Thoroughly fantastic film.

Led Zeppelin The song remains the same. The best guitar based band ever

Shawshank Redemption, Film 4 Tuesday night. Top film.  Mind you, I still think Warden Norton looks like Peter Sellers.

+1 for Kung Fu Panda - "There is no charge for awesomeness".

Also saw Wall-e at the weekend and enjoyed it immensely.

Both boys are walking round making the 'Bdoush' noise - the one Panda does when he does the finger hold technique on Mr Mean Snow Leopard.  ;D

When I pretend to do the Kung Fu moves and make the obligatory Jackie Chan noises of 'whaa' and 'whaa whaa whaa' ( you understand ) I get reminded that "Dad, I don't remember any of the characters having to make that noise in the movie when they did their moves?

Today I've watched

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - A comedy but it's quite good.
St Trinians - Brilliant and silly
Blood Rayne II - Great but not as much as the first.

Batman: The Dark Knight at the Imax cinema. An absolutely rocking way to see it, but I would recommend sitting in a row farther back than C... head hurts now.

Absolutely the best way to see it, especially as a few of the city scape scenes were shot on imax stock.

I watched that. Seen it before but it's worth watching at least twice. Brilliant film.

I've got a mate coming round tomorrow with 'REC' which looks awesome. Like Guillermo Del Toro meets Blair Witch Project. I cannae wait.

Last film I saw was Wall.E.  Very good.

But you have to watch to the very end of the credits...
Getting there...
