2008 totals
« on: 31 December, 2008, 09:09:06 pm »
Bike 2151.5 miles, of which geared was 1614 and fixed was 537.5; run 185.95 km, swim 21000m.  So that explains why I was slow and got fat: too much reliance on short sessions and commutes.  That's my lowest bike mileage in years
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I'm pleased to discover that my running total (single fixed gear of 24"!) is just short of your cycling total.  I am about to brave the garage to tot up the totals on my various bike computers.  Swimming?  I think it might be 50m.

I ran between train carriages, with the bike, and rode several miles in heavy rain.

What was your mileage for 2008 then Del? Fatters & I were discussing this and I reckoned it was probably between 13000 and 15000 miles.

What did Fatters think? What's the prize for the closest?

I'm not sure if he opined. I dare say he hasn't ridden with you quite so often as I have and perhaps is not so familiar with your itinerant ways.

I lost over a stone up to about July, but am now very close to the weight I was on 1/1/08.

13641.05 miles and I think I've lost a hundred somewhere but can't find where.

I started 08 at 11s 4lbs, dropped to 9s 9lbs in late June, but mostly hovered around 10s 2lbs. I finish at 11s.

I saw it on the floor in the East Hanningfield Windmill.

I remain at about 17.5 stone.

5004 miles (it would have been 5000 but I was 4 miles from home).

My highest ever I think.  I work, but don't commute, so I have to 'force' myself out sometimes to keep the miles ticking over, it would be so easy to do a lot less.

Just checked my records and I'm about 3lbs lighter than this time last year but that's still not very good considering 5004 miles cycled.

5004 miles at approx 15mph = 333 hours cycling.
1 hour cycling = approx 400 calories = 133,440 calories
3500 calories = 1lb of fat = 38 pounds.
I guess I must have (over)rewarded myself with 122,000 calories along the way.

8815 miles, 28 lbs lost in weight.

The mileage was 5800 on fixed, 1900 on my single speed trike, only 950 on gears and the other wee bit on an SS hybrid.

Around 5000 miles (2000 fixed). I feel I should and could have done more, but 5000 is actually what I was aiming for at the start of 2008. My annual mileage is steadily increasing since I got more serious about cycling at the start of 2006. 2009 should see another step up as I've joined my local club and intend to go on regular training rides and compete too. Here's to a happy new year of cycling!

5500 km in 100km and above rides (of which about 4200 in Audaxes; no idea how much on shorter rides)

I don't know how far I've ridden in 2008, on account of using so many different bikes, some of which don't have computers.  And I'm starting 2009 with a ride of about four miles on another bike (trike) without a computer.  So I guess I'll be in the same position when 2010 is looming ;D

All I do know is that I have ridden further in 2008 than I have in any other year since about 1988.

4260 miles in 175 rides. Well down on the last three years. Not a typical year for me though. Zero car miles.

I stopped logging mine in early June with about 1500 miles under my belt.

I estimate that I did around 4000 this year.

Now I have my Garmin, every ride will be logged!  :)
