Well we'll have to agree to disagree - I thought her questioning manner/tone was very fair and not at all aggresive or sneering; she let Vicky speak, she didn't try to put words in her mouth, she didn't dispute her responses.

So not at all Paxmanesque. In my view.

They rode to the rules and won. Fair enough but not very sportsman like. I would like to see the rules changed so that it is only in the event of a mechanical failure (not rider incompetence) that the restart is granted. Does a skier get a second chance if they miss a gate?

Hmmm.  Based on 16 years' personal experience of dealing with things between native-speakers of the two languages in question, in my view this is actually quite a plausible explanation (without needing to invoke the special defence that Hindes comes from far enough south in Germany that any live interview attempt at "Englisch" levity is almost inevitably doomed).

In my experience of non-track cycling, I have never known a wobble like that. Not sprinting, not gurning uphill at impossibly low revs.

Is it common on the track? I'm aware these guys are operating at somewhat higher torques than me!

The girls looked a bit shabby in the womens TP. Only a world record and over three seconds faster than the next team.. Somewhat below par :)

The Brits are truly masters of the team pursuit. The men looked like they were coasting to win their heat. I'm expecting them to break their own WR in the final.

Unfortunately, I had to pop out and got back moments after the women finished their qualifying ride but I'll definitely catch up with that on iplayer - sounds like it was well worth seeing.

Good ride by the NZ men just now for a well deserved TP bronze.

And Vicky P is looking imperious in the keirin.

WRT the crash being deliberate or not.

Sport is about winning. Winning means beating your opponant within the rules. To win takes practice to be adept at the gameplay and it takes practice to be adept at tactics. *if* he took a tactical crash, in order to force a restart, he has executed a masterful tactical stroke, at risk of injury, that worked.

In my sport, there is still rumblings about how unfair it was for one team to accept deliberate (non contact) penalties, which gave them the edge to let their team score enough points to win in the dying seconds of the game. They didn't foul the other team, or pretend that they had fouled, they exploited a the rules to their advantage. The other team said that it was unfair, but what they meant was that they had failled to respond with a counterattack (which they could have very easily done).

And after the men's TP, one of our bikes taken off the track wearing a San Marco Rolls! I thought they would all be carbon jobs. Still, one has to be comfortable at work, doesn't one?  ;D

You can't keep everyone happy :) (there are another squillion events to show.)

Personally, I'd rather they had shown the Keirin B final while Cav blathered on, rather than showing Cav & co with the b final in the background!
