scar tissue inflammation
« on: 29 November, 2011, 08:25:14 pm »
3 years ago I had a 'halo' fitted to enable neck vertebrae to mend.  This charming device has 4 points that pierce the skin and press into the bones of the skull in order to stop the 'victim' moving their head for several weeks.  During this time the skin must remain unhealed around the spikes and kept clean to avoid infection.

After the halo was removed the 4 sites slowly healed up, I thought completely, but in the last day or two one of them, just over my eyebrow, has  become a bit swollen and tender like a bruise.   Anyone know why this might be and will it just clear itself or would a visit to my GP be the best plan?  (I dislike bothering GP's)

Cheers.

Could be granular tissue, could be a cyst.

Could be a problem.

Definitely got to your GP.

E Minor recently had an appendectomy; his scar became inflamed. He's on antibiotics to clear it up and prevent the infection spreading. He had complained of intermittent pain for a while, but then it really got going.

If there is a problem the GP can sort it out for you. It's always better to seek advicebefore things get serious.

No, take the advice of a bunch of random, but nice, strangers off the internet.

It could be DOG* or a Drop Bear attack.

Make sure you haven't got a Drop Bear infestation.

No reply from GP's except message abt prescriptions - will try tomorrow.   Hope not gangrene as amputation  would be rather inconvenient..

Medical opinion has put it down to a cyst. Anti biotics for me.  Should take a week.

Thanks for the replies.  Even the one about Gangrene.

Phew. I was imagining you running your hand over your head, thinking that you had spilt a load of popping powder over it as the gas gangrene took hold. :D
