...I shall ride 25 Km in the cyclo park first...

Another 2p.  As a training goal you could see if you can eventually build up do 25km in 1hour.  Not that I've done an Audax at an average speed of 25km/h before, but over 25km - if have reasonable potential fitness, may be a challenge to try.  Training on the same track could be 'boring' though, so after a while perhaps take it to a decent handful of diff routes...

Varying the routes isn't just a nice thing to do to make training less boring - as per previous post, experience of road riding is essential.

There's too much well-meant-but-misguided positivity in this thread, and focusing on daft stuff like inner tubes instead of what actually matters. As an organiser, I wouldn't be happy about accepting an entry from the OP - for their own safety.

Apologies for any potential bunkum spouted.  ;)  I was kind of assuming since the OP was thinking about joining a cycling club & doing Audax, that they had resonable road riding experience to build on.  I went through several years of hardly riding at all, but prior to that had had experience of commuting in London / cycle tours etc, but anyway...

[Maybe if OP doesn't have much previous road cycling experience, as other have said, 'all things in good time' build it up slowly, safely, concentrate on building confidence / road skills first, perhaps riding on familiar quieter road routes, at quieter times of day, gradually increasing distances; go out with any experienced cycling friends...etc]

There is good precedent at Durham, too: Potts made a big century for them as watchman and it was his highest score.  Weather not looking good for Sunday but it's nicely poised!

Essex 5-0 at the close. Sam Cook took the decision to open the innings as a nightwatchman. He did a pretty good job v Lancs and ended up with 49, his highest score in the county championship.

I regret to note that Professor Larrington was guilty of the “So” thing on her wireless programme a few years ago.  Probably what’s standing between her and further #MediaTartery :demon:

I have this:

https://www.ortlieb.com/uk_en/seat-pack-qr+F9904

I mostly put it to inappropriate use on the commute. I like it because it is properly waterproof, rock solid on the bike, and more than big enough.

It needs a certain amount of room around the saddle rails to work - the Ortlieb site has details of what won’t fit. Another point to be aware of is that the adjustable QR bits are on the bag rather than a bracket attached to the bike, so depending on your setups it is not necessarily swappable between bikes.

Depends if you are a youngster jumping on the train after a night on the town (before you've gone to bed), and not arriving until lunchtime.
Even now i am no longer young, the 830pm boarding of the sleeper to Scotland doesn't really count as "after a night on the town", and the 615am arrival isn't a lie in for my body clock!

I'm still a div, but fortunately, Kryptonite aren't - replacement keys (the spare will be kept in a safe place with the other keys rather than some super secret safe place that remains unfound) arrived from the USA today. They work!

And...what turned up today? Why, the original key. Just casually hanging out in my backpack, that I'd looked in umpteen times.

   ???

At least I've now got two spares...
