Delamere Forest Trails

What an absolute delight to have a few days casually meandering around Delamere Forest.

Link to a ride report more about the blessings of a hot tub than the intricacies of single-track berms and camel bumps.

I've only just seen this. I don't think I've ever been into the Forest to follow the trails. However, Delamere Forest figures significantly in my early cycling history. Through a teacher, my brother was introduced to the Altrincham Ravens CC, and he persuaded me to join him on what was our first club run. So two inexperienced teenagers hung onto their wheels desperately across Cheshire. On the way back, they had to push us.

Somehow we survived. My brother went on to join the Ravens. For reasons unrelated to that club run, I and some friends instead joined the South Lancashire Road Club. And here I am, many decades later, still riding

A couple of years ago, we had a family holiday to Frodsham, so I rode to the Forest from there, in honour of that run long ago.
