Strida 5.0
« on: 17 April, 2008, 11:12:05 am »
Anyone seen or read much about the new version of the Strida?

I can't see the appeal myself other than the low maintenance compared to a Brompton. They are quite bulky and don't exactly fold up that small, and the new version doesn't look a quantum leap forward from the old models.
A shitter and a giggler.

I have a pair of Strida 1s!

Good fun little machines for local rides.

I can't see the appeal myself other than the low maintenance

-Nearly £185 cheaper than the cheapest brommie
-Quicker folding (10 seconds vs 15)
-Requires little maintenance
-No dirt from brakes or drivechain
-Much lighter than a brommie - 10kg Vs 12kg (cheapest brommie)
-Bit of suspension in the saddle

The brommie is definately the more versatile bike, but the Strida is excellent at what it does.  Just a pity about the handling problems of the earlier Stridas.
