I found out what a mirabelle was after picking and eating cherry-sized plums from my garden last summer. Having lived here seven years, I had to use the interweb to identify its fruit.

I agree with goatpebble.  Food's about enjoyment and nourishment of the body, senses and soul.  It's not about a sweary egotist who likes table football.

And, whether or not goatpebble is a 'foodie', he's certainly someone who knows his food, and how to combine flavours to create a great experience from the simplest ingredients.  That's what's important.

Very disappointing. I am a right foodie snob but I know nothing about celebrity chefs.  What have Ramsey and his ilk got to do with great food and ingredients - they are restaurant and ready meal tarts, respectively catering to fat businesspeople on expenses and lazy consumerists TV dinners.  Bah humbug.
