A week ago I bought a garmin 510 with HR and cadence sensor all I can say is wow what a piece of kit that is

I've had mine about a year now and all I can say is it has been fantastic.

I had a little go on an Edge 1000 recently, which is perhaps even more splendid, but it's also a lot more expensive and try as I might I can't contrive enough complaints about the 510 to justify an upgrade. Dammit.

On a related note, my latest cycling purchase has been an Anker Astro E5, which is huge - should contain enough juice to keep both my Edge 510 and my phone topped up for the duration of both the 400 and 600 audaxes I've got coming up.

A multitool for the saddlebag; now I'll have a chain breaker on rides, I should probably also get a quick link...

A new pair of bb7s.

The ball bearings somehow fell out of the others. I've been finding them on floor, didn't realise they were out of the calipers. The front stopped releasing when applied firmly. This gave me a few squeaky bum moments  :o

16000 mAh.  Going for 32€ on Amazon Germany. Hmm...
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Already got one of those! ;) (Doesn't match any of my bikes and I prefer my Road Morph anyway, so it just lives in a drawer. But it's shinyyyyyyy... ::-))

I recently bought a 9000mAh Technet on Amazon for a £paltry-sum and have found it provides several recharges for both Garmin and iPhone 6. I think it could possibly last for an entire PBP but need to do some more tests to confirm this....

Just ordered one of the £49.99 Shimano Dynohub wheels from SJS for the hybrid.  I used to ride this all the time.  I commuted on it for 14 years, but since I was made redundant, I've barely ridden it.  At least if I put proper lights on it, I might use it a bit more around town.

I have bought a bar-end mirror for the Towpath Bike as my Take-A-Look will not fit over the frames of my sunglasses, the ones which make me look like the bassist from a stoner rock band.

  • A pair of mirrors - one for me and one for a friend.
  • A cheapy wired bike computer
  • Pair of cycling caps - one black, one purple
  • Three chainrings
  • One cassette
  • A little saddlebag
  • Pair of mitts
  • Pair of rear lights
  • Puncture kit and tyre levers
  • A bottom bracket

Seems like quite a lot but it came to less than a third of the petrol money I've saved by commuting by bike rather than car this year alone.

A new bottom bracket to replace the pound shop special in my day one disk.

Hopefully that'll stop the creaking.

Since I am in France and:

 i) it seems polite to buy the local produce
ii) they're my favourite
iii) they're not going to be sliced to ribbons within five miles

I've bought a pair of very nice Michelins. Just wheeling the bike feels lovely.

The local roads have just been doused, the warmth is drying the roads pretty smartish and I'm going to head into town where there is fresh tarmac - just to squeeek round some bends.

I've sucked it up and ordered a spoke tension gauge.  I'm sick of stabbing about in the dark, as it were.

15mm chrome vanadium spanner. This is to replace the adjustable spanner in my bike tool kit that only ever deals with wheel nuts, so there's sod all point to it being adjustable.

After investigating the crunchy noises in my Brompton's rear wheel at the weekend, I thought I'd better buy a new set of bearings for it...

I also noticed that the brake pads were almost worn down to the shoes so thought I'd better get some replacements for those too. And a new gear cable while I was at it - the current one is fraying around the shifter, so I keep spiking my thumb on the end of loose strands of wire.

I really ought to replace the whole transmission too but this will be an expensive business, best left until after payday. It will at least be a good excuse to upgrade to the new style chainset with replaceable chainrings.

Ordered at the weekend but delivered today (eminently commendable given the bank holiday) - a 180mm disc rotor and a 29x2.2 Conti Race King tyre.

The singlespeed rear wheel for the Karate Monkey is now usable again.
