Add mountain oysters to the list.

Talking of Terrible Things, there is that referred to by the USAnians as "biscuits & gravy".  Obviously the "biscuits" are not biscuits, because the uncouth Leftpondians call such things "cookies".  No, they are more akin to fruit-free scones.  The "gravy" is some sort of off-white sauce, having the consistency of wallpaper paste,  with unidentifiable grey lumps suspended in it.

There are some things that we noble BRITONS cannot face first thing in the morning, and this is one of them

Burn the heretic!  Biscuits & gravy is one of the 'comforts of home' I really miss.

As for bacon turned into charcoal ...   When in the US I tend to avoid bacon at breakfast unless I know it won't be burnt to a crisp.

I could rustle up some custard creams with chicken stock if that's your heart's desire, Andrij.

Thankfully breakfast was long forgotten by the time I read that, otherwise it could have come back up.

By all means Kipper curry, but not too long.
It is simpler than it looks.
