OK fellas see you tomorrow, The Exile at SQF and the rest of you at Mrs Miggins pie shop in Aberfeldy.

I'll bring the midgie repellant.

Weather looks like it could be better than the rest of the UK.

Eck - how did you "The F Word" get on after we split at Lochearnhead?

The Exile and I had some hard work after callander into a stiff easterly and got back to SQF at 18.00, assume yours was simliarly challlenging?

Looking forward to some pics too.

I'm now enjoying a cold beer or two after my most enjoyable 600k ever (short sleeved top and shorts BOTH days, bargain accomodation and we had a fan club at Corran!) although I know some other audax ecosse members need no such excuse to spend the entire weekend drinking around the camp fire.

Glad you and Mr H Exile got back safe.
Mr David  was gentlemanly as always. We too had a stiff easterly all the way to Crieff, for our afternoon tea stop, then a helpful wind up the Sma' Glen, headwind down to Dunkeld, for a juice and crisp stop, headwind to Coupar Angus, for a Fry's Turkish Delight stop if you really want to know, then  another f*ing headwind all the way back to Kirrie, We finished at 8.05 off a 7am start, so an hour longer than you guys.

Indeed, a superb weekend, bargain but most salubrious accommodation (many thanks once again), great craic all round.

More tomorrow. Good night and "kumbayah" everyone.

A big thank you to Mr Eck , Mr D F and by no mean.s least Mr Y L G
A great weekend of cycling was had by the four who decided to accept the Twilight/Gie's a light 600km outing.
What more could one ask for good food, weather and craic all for £40 sure you wouldn't get a decent weekend camping for that.
There will be limited space's on the next trip so get your name down soon
No excuse's

Aye, a likely story  ;)

Sorry to dampen the speculation about cannibalistic rituals, but this is the nearest we got to a campfire:

Ballachulish Village Hall, late Saturday afternoon. We had just done our shopping for supper and breakfast for our overnight stop, and had a quick afternoon tea before departing to meet our tifosi, well, Y Lee G's mum and m-i-l at the Corran Ferry.  8) 8)
Hibernian Exile has a piece while Y Lee G stirs some voddie in his tea.  ::-)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

A few fotoes of our weekend jaunt, in the sunshine.  ;)

Saturday, mid-morning Killin, quick break for Hibernian Exile and DF to de-robe due to an outbreak of wall to wall sunshine, which we had to endure for the whole weekend.  ::-)

HE and Y Lee G sail up the climb to Rannoch Moor. Note the sunshine.  8)

The start of the descent into Glencoe. First time in years there's been a tailwind down there. It was a nice accompaniment to the sunshine.

Looking back up Glencoe. What you can't see is the road with nose to tail bank holiday tourist traffic. It must have been the sunshine that brought them out.  :-X

The sun shines on the mountain as HE and YLG freewheel out of Glencoe.

Sunday morning, Dalmally. DF airs his athletic bits as HE and YLG contemplate posting their bikes home. Again de-robing before tackling the last big climb of the ride, in the sunshine.  O:-)

Crianlarich station caff: as their owners are inside tucking in to a big fry-up, the bikes bask in the late morning sunshine.  8) 8) 8) 8)

That was by far the most enjoyable 600 I've ever done. Many thanks to Hibernian Exile, Y Lee G and (suspected lurker) David for a grand time, and to "someone" for all the sunshine.  ;D

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Vodka?  You guys told me that was gluten free milk that would help me go faster.

Just to prove that for every ying there is a yang I have had to spend today in the hell holes that are B&Q, Tesco etc in stark contrast to the classic cycling and great craic over Sat/Sun.

Is that the words to "Kum ba yah" on the notice board behind me?  Perhaps we should consult the campimng and caravanning section of audax ecosse for a definitive answer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conversation at the Shell garage at the finish.

Shop Assistant - "You been cycling then?"

Hibernian Exile - "Yes we have, I'm really thirsty, can I have a receipt with the pint of milk thanks"

SA - "Where have you been then?"

HE - "Do you know your geography of Scotland?"

SA - "Of course"

HE - "Do you know where Ardnamurchan is?"

SA - "Er, is that near Wick"

HE - "Just give me the receipt".

Great photos from Eck. Just one thing I don't understand - how come you're looking back at HE and YLG coming up the hill? Just doesn't seem right ???

Envious of the sunshine
Envious of the route

Not so envious about the traffic that must have clogged Glencoe.  Was the bottle of vodie to calm the nerves afterwards?

I'll hopefully do this ride in the future - 2009 perchance?

I was talking about doing this as a perm last year, but I crashed and hurt myself so I had to shelve my plans. They are shelved though and not cancelled so maybe next year for me too.
