Thanks for the best wishes.  I'm now home with some extra bits of metal in my right ankle.  But it's only an ankle, it's non-life threatening and it's a routine fix.

I slipped while taking the dog for a walk.  We were on a muddy stony wet path near home and I heard the ankle go as I landed badly.  Now pointing to 2 o clock instead of the customary 12 o clock, it was obvious something was wrong.  I rang 999, then rang my wife to bring me some of those blankets I have at home for the Peak Audax 400 and 600, as I was going to get cold and wet very quickly.  But who amongst us hasn't been cold and wet at the side of the road?

And those blankets proved useful in hospital as I'd been told to keep the leg elevated but nothing was provided for the task.  Good job the blankets (the dry ones that is) had come with me in the ambulance.

While lying in the ditch I was able to contact Terry who is running the Newport 200 and Radway 150 this Sunday.  I just needed to pass him the hall keys and soup kettle as I wouldn't be taking then to the start myself, but we arranged all that.  Other than that Terry was on top of everything and Sunday will go well.

I daresay I'll be back on both feet before too long.  I was particularly looking forward to the Cestyl Cymru in July, so fingers crossed.

Ouch².  GWS but don't push it. I still hobble occasionally from an ankle injury in 1991.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Well, in this time of crisis, how about some good news?  It's now 8 weeks since I broke all three "malleoli" bones in my right ankle, but I'm now out of plaster and weight-bearing on both legs.  I've just listened to Pop Master while on the rollers in the garage, so that's a good 10 or 15 minutes on the bike, and I can take the dog for a walk albeit with a pronounced limp.  Actually the dog is pronounced good boy Rio.

After 8 weeks confined to the house because I can't drive or walk far, I was really looking forward to popping down to the local café on the e-bike to meet my Saddleworth Clarion club mates, so the current situation is a bit of a blow.  Who would have thought that the world would be shut down in my absence?

On the Audaxing front, while I haven't actually cancelled my Llanfair 400 in May, I've offered my riders a refund to their entries, or a conversion into the equivalent number of entries to my own Perm series - not that anyone can ride those yet.

I'll keep the Pair of Kirtons 600 on the Calendar for now.  It was planned for August, and perhaps things might have relaxed by then.  I might even be able to look after some of riders displaced from the summer 600s if they haven't been able to resume.

That sounds much worse than my 'more-like-a-bad-sprain' break.  Keep up the physio, it took a lot of effort even with mine.

But who amongst us hasn't been cold and wet at the side of the road?

Please don't remind us!

Well done for keeping cheerful and preserving throughout - true audax spirit!
