Happens all the time. And 370 of those words are taken up in a compulsory disclaimer that says, in effect, "Do not believe a word of what I wrote in the nine above."

Of course, because most systems put the disclaimers at the bottom, my emails tend to consist of a few words, with a few words in reply, and so on, followed by disclaimer tennis at the bottom, down where no reasonable person is ever going to scroll.

The guys who invented email as a quick, effective messaging system must be turning in their graves ::-)

The mothership doesn't add a disclaimer just a two-line confidentiality note to the very end that reminds any unintended recipients that they shouldn't have read the text that preceded it. Forget it now!

I'm pretty sure the legal opinion is that those disclaimers are meaningless.

I do have a signature, but it's only added for initial outgoing emails, and it's a modest four short lines.

My brother works for Black Rock.

Terse 'family' emails have the extended commercial disclaimer.

Many in our kin are experts at the terse.

I sympathise.
