Put the scotland covid pass on front of Samsung galaxyS7
« on: 13 January, 2022, 01:07:02 pm »
My FiL in Tenerife has to show his vaccine pass as he enters restaurants, etc. I have downloaded and set him up on the NHS Scotland covid app. However he still needs to go into the phone, open the app and then ha can show the pass
He has a galaxy S7 running android 8.00.
Is there a way of making it easier to access the app?

Don't think so, it's fairly basic.
Unless the S7 has some sort of easier way to launch apps

No go on my Motorola Deadweight®

I printed my QR code out and shoved it inside the back of the transparent plastic wallet that holds my driving licence. Lo-tech but works.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

You can download a pdf and print it.

On my iPhone, I can keep the pass in my “Wallet”. Do android phones have something similar?

You can pin an app, which will keep it on the screen. Though means you can't use the phone for anything else.

The QR codes expire after a few days, so may not work if you  copy it into another app or print it out.

Thank you. Much as I suspected. He is 88 and brilliant for his age but is beginning to struggle with “new” technology.

On the England NHS app I can save the pass to Google Pay. When I do that it gives me the option to save the pass ( or a shortcut, I'm not sure) direct to the desktop.
There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

That will be the Android equivalent to the Apple Wallet that I was wondering about earlier.

You can use smartlock assuming the version of Android isn’t too old.  You can then have it stay unlocked if it’s on your body and you are in motion or have it automatically unlock in certain locations if he has location enabled.   He could then set his favourite restaurants to trusted places.  He will then just need the NHS app open rather than having to unlock first.

I have smartlock for my heart rate strap. So if it’s talking to my hr strap I can have it auto unlock for me. Not that your father will be wearing a hr strap!
