That must have been a fabulous experience!
It was. It's our 40th wedding anniversary weekend away. We didn't realise it was on until we got here. It was sold out but they snuck us in round the side.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

Emily Capell at The Green Door Store in Brighton. As it says on her website:

Quote
waif-like post-Amy Winehouse charisma and powerful voice dealing out a thirty minute set of great classic pop songs. The band are razor tight with ska chops
The set was longer, the beehive was splendid.

Been a busy couple of weeks.

Billy Bragg at the Roundhouse last night, Peat and Diesel (Stornoway folk-punk) at the Garage on Tuesday, Seasick Steve at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on the 13th, and Public Service Broadcasting at Brixton Academy on the 10th.

We saw Peat & Diesel at Brixton on Saturday supporting the Levellers. They had a load of kit nicked from their van at a service station on the journey south, but fortunately the accordion wasn't stolen. It was however, absolutely freezing. The lady next to me spent the entire evening wearing a winter coat, scarf and big wooly hat.

It was a good gig. Not convinced they were on top form - I fear Boydie may have been a little under the weather - but still a lot of fun.

I'd have liked to have seen the Levellers (and P&D again) but was listening to Mr Bragg's dulcet tones that night: the Brixton Academy wasn't exactly warm the night we were there, so god knows what it's like when it's cold outside.

On the other hand, when Miss von Brandenburg and I saw Audioslave at Brixton Academy longer ago than I care to contemplate it was so hot that she actually

Squeeze, on the warm-up for their tour.

Lots of familiar tunes, and a little story about a song they wrote in 1979. Which, coincidentally, was when I last saw them  ;D

I haven't been to a gig for ages.

Does a folk club meeting count?  If so, 14th November, lots of performers/participants (not me).

If not, then the last "concert hall" gig that I recall is either the Strawbs (acoustic) at the Robin 2, Bilston (though the Robin 2 is more of a club style venue than a concert hall) (June 2019) or Echo and the Bunnymen at Birmingham Symphony Hall (May 2018).

I'm not one for concert hall/stadium style gigs and much prefer pubs and clubs.

Went to see Girlschool the other night.
As the singer shouted out something about Motorhead and 1979, my mate turned to me and said "So we were only 14??" The look on his face was priceless  ;D

It seems we were in the same concert hall.  It was probably me who knocked over your beer  :P

I'm sure you enjoyed watching these muscley men cavorting round the stage all covered in oil and god knows what, but it won't be a patch on the highlight of your 2022 calendar...

Electric Six in Islington on Friday.

It turns out it's a thing to dress up as Abe Lincoln to go to an E6 gig, as he's depicted in the Gay Bar video.  Well I never!
