It turns out it's a thing to dress up as Abe Lincoln to go to an E6 gig, as he's depicted in the Gay Bar video.  Well I never!

Famous bisexuals, innit.

[Googles] ... aaaahhhhh, that's why he was in the video.  You learn something new every day!

It is still AA Williams in March 2020, a few days before Lockdown #1.  I have tickets for postponed gigs for Beth Hart, Ozzy, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Nightwish, and Deep Purple, two of them were postponed from 2019 due to performer health problems before Covid kicked in, but they've been postponed so many times that I've lost track of when they might currently be.

My grate frend Mr Woolrich and I are in the same boat with John Mayall, but he has been gigging earlier this year so we ent quite given up hope yet.  Not heard a word about George Thorogood from this summer yet.

Orange Goblin at Camden Underworld last night. Cracking show, fingers crossed that things somehow work out to make sure it's not too long for the next one.

Nice to see Ian MacMillan on fiddle!  I remember Johnny Coppin from way back in his Decameron days and slightly after, on the British "folk" scene.  He used to do a good version of Van's "Warm Love".  I've arranged that for one of my student guitar ensembles but as it's instrumental we miss what must surely by one of the most nonsensical (and generally unnoticed) lines in popular music - "Look at that ivy on that old clinging wall" - priceless - and totally admissible.

Johnny also did a good take on Bill Boazman's "The Worm Forgives The Plough" - though I disagree with the premise!  I'm really glad he's still at it and playing.

Good pictures, J, as ever.

What does he do on a gig?  I like his radio shows, he picks interesting soul stuff.  - and of course Red Dwarf.

This Craig Charles?

Interesting contrast to last night (Johnny Coppin)

100% mask wearing last night, and lots of sipped half-pints, maybe 80% turnout
Almost no mask wearing tonight, apart from staff, and lots of pints, maybe 60% turnout

It was Lewes Psychedelic Festival yesterday, so I saw Plinth, Johanna Bramli, School Disco, Codex Serafini, Melt Plastic Group, GENN, and The Lucid Dream along with some fun visuals. The day ranged from sitting on the floor for sample loops and a hurdy-gurdy to an hour of sweaty dancing, via quite a lot of echo and waa pedal. I’d have bought more CDs had some of the groups brought them.

Wilko, tonight. Bloody marvellous.
Presumably the manic, robotic guitar person from Canvey Island, rather than the high street shop. In which case I am v jealous.

Indeed, got the tickets in 2019 and finally got to see him tonight. Support was John Otway, very entertaining.

King King/The Damn Truth at the Electric Ballroom in naughty Camden with my grate frend Mr Woolrich.  First up, hairy Canadian retro-rockers The Damn Truth:

Nearly all-new lineup for headliners King King with bassist Lindsay Coulson, drummer Wayne Proctor and ivory-tinkler Rob Fridzema* all departed since the last time we saw 'em:

The addition of Stevie N on rhythm guitar** has beefed up their sound something opposite-of-rotten.  We approve

I've enjoyed their music for a few years, but they are much better on disc than live. I saw them in Bristol in the autumn but found them very noisy and unsubtle.
