Robyn Hitchcock at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, delayed by exactly two (2) years.  Accompanied at various times by Emma Swift (aka Mrs Hitchcock, vocals), former Soft Boys Kimberley Rew (guitar) and Morris Windsor (drums), former Higson Terry Edwards (guitar, keys, trumpet), Mark “Bedders” Bedford (ex-Madness, bass) and Lee Cave-Berry (aka Mrs Rew*, also bass).  A splendid thing, save that they didn’t finish with I Wanna Destroy You :'(  There may be pictures once I've watched Sport and et me dinner and persuaded the phone to relinquish them into the care of a Proper Computer**.

Almost everybody by Mr Larrington, on Flickr
L-R: Terry Edwards, Morris Windsor, Kimberley Rew, Lee Cave-Berry, Uncle Bobby, Mark Bedford.  Emma Swift didn't reappear for the encores.  Probably on the phone to the cats back home.

* They've been a couple since the Soft Boys were A Thing, but only got wed a couple of years ago.
** i.e. tomorrow.

Jaded, when are you going to publish a book of some of your best photos? You've certainly got enough for a 'look at them now' of 70s - 90s artists who are still working the circuit.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Saw an advert on the Tube the other day for John Otway's 5000th gig.  I had a ticket for his 2000th but then Jbex intervened and I couldn’t go chiz.

Feb 2019 I saw Fontaines DC - Less than a month to go and I can use my 2019 ticket to see Paul Weller at Carlisle Sands Centre.

That's an idea! I had thought about a book for the venue, or a Zine for my fun. There are more golden oldies coming up...

We had the Beatles playing 60 years ago yesterday (I think) and again in September. There's a lighthearted approach to get Macca to come and play again!

VSO (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra) and Mischa Maisky, playing Dvoraks Cello Concerto, which was absolutely mesmerizing.
They first (Without Maisky) played Verdi's sicilian overture, which was ok and Beethoven's 2nd, which was very boring. (But then I find Beethoven boring in general)...but Maisky was amazing.

Orange Goblin at Camden Underworld last night. Cracking show, fingers crossed that things somehow work out to make sure it's not too long for the next one.

Well, I didn't. Thankfully. Front 242, which was scheduled for the beginning of February, got moved to July, but Therapy? (on their now 32nd anniversary tour) did indeed perform in Pompey on March 26th. Splendid as always, pretty much perfect setlist. And I didn't have long to wait for another show. Last night, Killing Joke at Hammersmith Apollo, on the last night of their tour. Jaz turned all soppy at the encore and thanked all the crew (a nice touch). They naturally played the most apt song for the last two years- 'I Am The Virus'. Looking forward to the video release (that'll be the third live recording of theirs with me on backing noise!).

Grouper at the Barbican last night.  Guitar and tape loops, with ethereal (and unintelligible) vocals.  All the usual adjectives applied:  Gauzy, crackly, ambient, hazy, dreamlike.

Voice still amazing, great set. Some favourites, but Alison, for the final encore, had the house in absolute silence, apart from Nick and his guitar, you could have heard a pin drop. Truly memorable.

Paul Weller at Carlisle Sands Centre last night. Took a while to warm up but last 1/3 of concert (the stuff I knew  ;D ) was excellent. Great to be back watching live music after a 2 year abstinence :)

The Rose of Avalanche and The Mission last night. The support wasn't quite as good as i remember, while not actually bad. The Mission were on good form, with generous end of tour thanks. The audience were friendly and in good voice.

The Saviours of Soul in a crowded Thee Pubbe in Horsham last night. 7 piece soul covers band crammed into the fireplace of Thee Pubbe.  Like The Commitments but without the creative Bad Swears.

Earlier that day we watched Mythago, a morris dancing side in the Border/Bedlam morris tradition".

Heavy Metil morris dancing I reckon. Top stuff.
