Concerned about that Kildale trip now.

Thanks for the heads up. I had missed that this was on and watched it last night on iPlayer. Very good it was too.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I missed the beginning - and I had to have the subtitles on.

He didn't get his revenge fight, I suppose that will be in a follow-up programme.

Strange, he seems perfectly intelligent, unassuming and witty.  Any reason in particular?

One man's unassuming and witty is another's superficial and glib.

That applies rather well to such critique as

Talking of getting the level right [ as they say in teacher training] I really enjoyed the Meades programme despite not having a clue what he was talking about half the time!

Birdsong: I remember enjoying the book when I read it about 10 years ago so I was looking forward to seeing the adaptation. But I just found it immensely irritating and only managed about half an hour. All the reviews I have seen have been positive so I assume it's just me. Did anyone else struggle with this?

I just saw the trailer for "Birdsong" and when the stiff-upper-lip subaltern was telling the other chap what to do in case of shooty DETH on the part of the former, I'm afraid I expected the latter to reply "Of course, darling".

I didn't see it myself. Didn't really appeal, tbh, but beyond that, I can't comment.

Quite enjoyed Birdsong.

Having read the book (few years ago), I'm wondering what 'newcomers' thought about why-on-earth our hero is staying in this house in France. The book explains all, but there didn't seem to be any expo. in this version.

(I'm also with MrL - Blackadder has ruined any trench-based drama for a while yet!)

Right now, on C4, Japan's Tsunami: Caught on Camera.

Real 'Hail Mary' sort of stuff, and pretty sobering.

Yes I did. It was brilliant, very funny and quite moving. It was lovely to see peoples attitudes to each other and the whole race change as they came to realise what was really important to them.
