One of the Wee Frees (or is it the Wee Wee Frees?) was determined to stop you working on a Sabbath (or should that be Lord's Day?)!

Some other people have suggested that.

Don't know how they justify that when there are people working on the fish farms, hospital, ferry, airport, etc, etc, etc

I will be having a word with the local minister. Stealing on the sabbath is worse than working.

Did you go back today to see if it had been returned?

Someone in the neighbourhood has been running an electric motor of some variety since I got out of stir. Not loud enough to be really obtrusive but it nearly coincides in pitch with the hum of my computer, with a beat frequency of about 2 Hz.  Feels like the throb of a headache.

Where did I put all my AA Eneloops?   Put them somewhere neatly packed, as used them mainly for my Etrex (now semi-retired).  Now I need some, and can I find them? No!    ::-)

An unscheduled trip to Mr Sainsbury’s House of Toothy Comestibles may be required due to insufficient Brown Drink to last until Monday.  Bah!

Today, well this evening, is the annual “Music under the stars” charity event on the farm opposite, run by a guy who works in publishing, for his mates to play covers of 50’s, 60’s, and sometimes later, pop songs. Badly. Several renditions of Johnny B Goode are to be expected, played increasingly badly by increasingly inebriated bands who are increasingly convinced of their musical talents  ::-). Luckily it’s to the NE of us, and the wind has gone to the SW. And they’ve been disciplined to stop at 11’ish.

Roadworks all over our immediate area and the navvies have left their "Road Closed" signs in place even though in several places it's perfectly possible to get through.

Local bypass: a road has long been on the signs to re-open on 23/6. It was changed 2 days ago to 21/7. Most of the time it is actually possible to get through on foot and, occasionally, with 4 wheels.
There's a walk that I like that uses the road - if I'm blocked it's 4 miles to retrace, as the bastards have closed the RoWs.

Broke the elastic on one of my Keen sandals. Keen has a video showing how to fit the "replacement kit". Said "replacement kit" is not available...

I've ordered an alternative. Will see if it's any good.

Grocery shopping this evening.  Onions:  source of origin, Australia.

WTF could possibly have caused that ???

Chum had cycling shoes of the type that is tightened by bits of string wound onto bobbins.  Around 40k from home one of them snapped.  One of my old Zefal trouser tapes aka parking brakes got him home.

We were importing antipodean onions long before Brexit.

I bought a tree lopper online at the end of May.
At the beginning of this week I emailed them to ask when I'm likely to receive it.
They emailed back straight away, informing me that they were expecting it on June 30th and would send them out straight away.
Yesterday I had an email from someone who introduced themselves as an administrator and advised me that the lopper vendor had gone into liquidation and pending orders would not be completed.
Gah!

That genuinely surprises me.  Perhaps because I don't normally use the larger supermarkets I simply hadn't noticed.

Back when I last looked Sainsbury’s shiitake mushrooms came from China, while Tesco's came from, er, Lancashire.

Oi, The Guardian. What's the point in having the ability to hide the sport section when you then post a spoiler in the headlines section instead? (I know it's probably aimed at people with no interest in sport rather than 'look away now' types.

With the full coverage of TdF etc on GCN - typically 7 hours a day - we end up so far behind that we've forgotten any headlines that sneak through before we see the race. We can be a week or more behind on the grand tours, so only tend to see and remember if someone big has crashed out, or sometimes who the overall winner was.

Edit to add: the one that really annoyed me was a few years ago, when the guy who sat next to me at work knew I was a cyclist. He'd insist on talking about what had happened the previous day - or was being fed in from a news feed that day - despite me repeatedly telling him I was a week behind and trying to avoid hearing anything.

Especially not when a hopelessly out-of-practice Mr Larrington greviously bollixes his estimate of how long it’ll take him to catch up with the recording from FFWDing through the shitverts.
