Watched Casablanca yesterday. Not the first time I'd seen it, nor will it be the last, it is such a great film. Ingrid Bergman is so feminine in it, if she looked at you and smiled, it would make even the Pope go weak at the knees.
One of my top films ever. Miles ahead of any modern crap.

Oh yes. I bought that on HD DVD just before Toshiba ditched it.  >:(

Just completed a one day marathon of all three Lord of the Rings films (extended editions of course).

It really does take all day, about 13 hours all told, with a bit of faffing time included. I enjoyed it but am not in a hurry to repeat it.

Massive deprogramming to follow.

Great way to spend a lazy day. I find it is helped by a good single malt and plenty of 'picking' food on hand.

I spread it out over three nights with my lad when the girls were away. Great fun. He didn't get any whisky though.  ;D
It is simpler than it looks.

Inglourious basterds - I hated it - both the underlying premise and the gratuitous and graphic violence

(Much preferred Strictly ballroom and Filth - about Mary Whitehouse which were on tv last night)

Woman of the Year - Katharine Hepburn (much the better Hepburn) and Spencer Tracey.  It hasn't really dated: Hollywood production companies today would still be very nervous about creating a female character as strong and independent as Tess Harding.

Not a film, but I've been watching my Xmas present from 2009 - the boxed set of
I, Claudius. Superb. Just how Governments should be run. It's fun trying to see the actors/resses who later featured in something else (Nursie in Blackadder 2 for one).

Solaris (the Tarkovsky one). Bit slow and boring.

We went to the pictures and saw Burlesque yesterday, it gave us a few laughs afterwards.

Then we watched The Lives of Others at home, not many laughs afterwards but it was the better of the two films.

Iron Man on TV the other night. Excellent a proper silly action film. Good pace and excellent one liners. The little robot with the fire extinguisher was my favourite bit.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Over Xmas we have watched:

Knight and Day (pants)
Salt (ok, to a point)
Up (fun)
Dispicable Me (again, fun)
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

I also watched Conan The Destroyer. It was pants. Conan the Barbarian is a classic film but the follow-up was just rubbish.

Conan the Barbarian is a classic film

Classic in a very "The director is on even more steroids and monkey gland extract than Arnie" kind of way, but yes.

I saw all 3 Godfather films over the last three nights.

I bet they are dissected and analysed in film studies courses as they all use different methods of telling the past.

I enjoyed them, but...
Haggerty F, Haggerty R, Tomkins, Noble, Carrick, Robson, Crapper, Dewhurst, Macintyre, Treadmore, Davitt.

Having seen brief snatches of ballroom dancing on TV, I appreciate Strictly Ballroom much more now than when I first saw it. I can see them doing all the crap the film takes the piss out of.

2001.  Mrs Z has given me a "that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back" look  ;D

I love the way the end credits finish with "THE END" but the Blue Danube Waltz carries on afterwards for another 10 minutes or so.

Best bit is when Bowman breaks into the airlock without his spacesuit - brilliantly realistic.

Finally got around to watching Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street yesterday as I was travelling up to Glasgow.  I really enjoyed it.

Watched Sherlock Holmes which is great. Then Crazy Heart. There wasn't much else on and I didn't hold out much hope for it, since it's about a country singer and I'm not into country music at all. But it was brilliant. Jeff Bridges is just awesome. Definitely watch again. Fantastic film.

I started watching 'Ticker' last night. I idly looked it up on IMDB then rapidly switched it off. There's no way I'm going to spend time on a movie rated at 3.3  ;D

Stranger Than Fiction, for the third time.

Straight after watching 'Taking Lives' with Angelina Jolie.

STF was far superior and a real 'feel-good' film.

The Jolie film was pretty mediocre.
