Bridesmaids  :-[

The deal is that I get to choose the film next time  :P

Actually it was pretty damn funny in parts and I was far from the only male in the cinema.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, pt 2.

Showing straight after part 1. Got there just in time to get a good seat, 1 hour before the first film started.

I don't like the ersatz 3D. It just doesn't work for me in too many places.

Great film. Good to watch with an appreciative audience, who are prepared to spend 6 hours at the cinema and get home at 3 am.

Just about to watch "The Andromeda Strain"

The original, I trust.

I liked the sequence from the book where our heroes go through increasingly rigorous decontamination processes as they go deeper into the complex. The problem the designers had to deal with was 'how to sterilise a human body without actually killing it'.

Yes. the original. Also watched the making of documentary too.

Watched Werner Herzog's Even Dwarves Started Small again on Saturday with a couple of friends. If you haven't seen it, you have missed one of the oddest, most brilliantly deliberately provocative pieces of cinema ever made...

In a parallel universe Monkey is posting: "Watched Vin Diesel and Jason Statham in Meat of Fury 7 at the weekend, and it was bloody ace!"

Is that out already!?

I act as a handy counterbalance to his energetic climbs into the rarified heights of cerebral celluloid. And I rarely ever leave this universe.

I once threatened a room full of senior business execs with Chuck Norris. Remember, guns don't kill people, Chuck Norris does. Fact.

I have a different job now.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. First time I've seen one of these, I haven't read the books.

What's all the fuss about?

The last two in the 'girl who played with fire' trilogy.

Pretty much stayed true to the book, but missed out so much about lisbeth's terror of emotional dependence on anyone, apart from her first guardian. As a consequence, missed out her reunion and acceptance of miriam wu as a partner.

Hollywood will make a complete balls of it; probably produce watchable films, but minus any of the cold tension.

The Infidel, as mentioned here.

I could have done with it either being more clever or more slapstick.

'The Other Guys' with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.  Very funny.  Which was a (nice) surprise!  Can't beat a bit of silly stuff on a rainy Sunday.

In The Loop.  Outstanding swearing.

"Fuckety Bye!"

We watched this with some trepidation - mixed reviews, the appaling track record of movie adaptations ...  it was much better than feared.
The story didn't really work, and the pacing was all over the place for a movie, but there was so much funny stuff inbetween that I really enjoyed it.
[It was a bit confusing having some actors play totally different parts fromt the TV show. And why did they rename Ollie?!?]

Althought they don't mention Tom Hollander's transformation. He was brilliant in both versions.

+1 It's doubly reinforced my admiration of Jens Voigt to the point where it's becoming embarassingly like hero-worship.

Micmacs. Charming French silliness. Better than I was expecting.

Whatever Works. Woody Allen does Curb Your Enthusiasm. Again, better than I was expecting.

Got a decent quota of laughs from both, which I think is as much as you can reasonably expect.

By pure coincidence, Inglorious Basterds. It was ... A Tarantino Film.
