Of seven golds available in track cycling events so far, only two have not gone to Britain.

If only they'd dropped the points race instead of the kilo...

d.

Didn't Chris Hoy change to sprint from kilo when it got removed?  If so, he might never have discovered his sprint talent if kilo had stayed in.

Aye he did but he would have tried the others in training I would have thought.

If they were just going to put someone who happened to be there in for the women's points race, I'd have thought Nicole would have been a better bet than Rebecca - she used to ride track when she was a junior.

In all fairness, that was only Romero's second points race.

She only switched sports a couple of years ago, but Romero's got the makings of being a damn good track cyclist one day...  :demon:

Does anyone know the semi-final line ups for the mens sprint?  Do Hoy and Kenny have a chance of meeting in the final or will they beat one another up in a semi?

"
Chris Hoy is also looking for his third gold of Beijing 2008 in the Men's Sprint. Hoy will square off against Mickael Bourgain, who hopes to be France's first gold medalist in the event since Daniel Morelon won back-to-back medals in 1968 and 1972. Jason Kenny of Great Britain and Maximilian Levy of Germany will contest the other semifinal race.

I would guess Romero wanted the experience, possibly to ride the event more in the future.

Romero is a remarkable character. I would imagine if she gets more experience in the points race, she'll be kicking all manner of arse!

Go the sprinters today!

It would be great if we get another "Brad and Cav show" in the madison, but it's a bit of a lottery.....

Or to summarise - we're only guaranteed a bronze. So no chicken counting yet please.  :hand:

Pendleton, Hoy, Kenny - all on devastating form in the sprint semis. This is just brilliant.

I'm watching the Madison now. I haven't got a clue what is going on.

Listening to the confusion between the commentators, I'm not alone. ;D

Wiggins seemed a bit knackered there. I'm not surprised!

Thing is, you just know he'll come away from the games disappointed now!

Hmm... cracking race - but hardly any point us turning up...

Edited: that sounded harsher than I meant it! Wiggo is knackered from this week, Cav is probably still knackered from the Tour.

It's a 50k. Does that mean it could count as an audax? :P

Especially when you look at the age of the winners.

They also seemed to have every single move marked by the other teams. There's a price to pay for being so dominant!
