I don't understand why they seem to have written a mass of Javascript to view these images, when it's far faster to go directly to the image.

You're right.  I can't even get the proper page to open.  Bloomin web developers thinking they know best.

Likewise - seem to be a lot of website these days that are so 'clever' they don't  actually work (using Firefox on Win2K, which is hardly an exotic or unusual setup).
