I win the £5 I bet myself about the name.

Unless they're saving it for the very end, no built-in cell radio.

I'm wondering if it might end up with some dedicated tethering via an iPhone?  (in which case, I'm not sure how long my I'm-not-buying-an-iPhone willpower is likely to hold out!)

More drastically overpriced Chinese-made hardware  :P

Possibly.  Do we actually know the price yet?

An Apple processor.  ;D

I think they are serious about this thing!

Assuming it works with standard wifi, then you could use it with a portable 3G / wifi hostpot, eg the MiFi. Go MiFi - and ditch your iPhone? • The Register

LCD screen at the moment (although IPS, apparently, so probably quite good).

Wonder how long until they switch to AMOLED?

Edit: the Apple processor has been speculated about for a while.  Apple did buy PA Semi a few years ago (and PA have an ARM license, so between that and the ability to run unmodified iPhone Apps, I think we can make a good guess about the underlying architecture!).

The spec looks OK, but hardly earth shatteringly original.

I suspect the success will depend a lot on the price.

It's interesting that the percentage of revenue going to publishers of documents is going to be higher than it would be with Amazons system.  I wonder if that will significantly help to encourage publishers to make more stuff available?
Actually, it is rocket science.

Hmm, one thing I can't find an answer to, but which ought to be obvious to anyone seeing one "in the flesh", is whether the battery is internal, or can be changed without dismantling it?  That's one of the things I like least about the MacBook Air, that to make it very small, they've made the battery non-user replaceable which means (i) You can't carry a spare battery & (ii) It's an expensive return to Apple replacement.

It'll be internal.  All Mac laptop batteries are internal now as well.

Hopefully, this iPad thing might make people offload their current ebook readers for a song.  I think reading on static eInk displays is much nicer than updating backlit displays.

If the iPad costs £200, I might buy one.  More than that and it's just too much money - I'll wait for ASUS to make a knockoff version! :)

But will it charge wirelessly?

Some models will have 3G

Data charges in the US $14.99 for 250MB, $29.99 for unlimited.

$499 to $829.

I think I'd rather have a 64GB iPod touch...

Okay, they were saving the radio 'til the end...

Pricing is a bit lower than a lot of predictions, too.

If iDontwantone either, is that +1 or -1?

I'm unsure. The tech spec and form are very nice. But not so sure about the choice to go iPhone OS over stripped down OSX. The only reason I want one is to watch films in bed or on the train/plane.
