Survived an emergency visit to B&Q. They were playing some kind of Disney soundtrack.

Cripes, hadn't thought about that.  I went to Wickes yesterday in search of plywood, but luckily the general ambience of can't-be-arsedness about the place extended to a lack of music.

Ah its not just me then.
My sister (a big Wickes fan) describes it as "the pikey's B&Q".

I have generally been unimpressed by Wickes on previous visits but was in there on Tuesday and it was absolutely fine apart from the tortuous one way system.

I couldn't see what I was looking for and, having asked a member of staff, he dropped what he was doing and I was escorted to where it was at the other end of the building.  He was pleasant, cheery etc  The woman on the till was also pleasant and cheery.  I couldn't really fault them and more importantly I didn't get Whammed.

I only enter two shops on a regular basis.  Tyler chooses the music at the butchers and he's too young for Wham!  And Waitrose....

I'm about to go meet a lady in a cafe, but I fear they might be playing Last Christmas.  Should I call it off?  :o

I didn't know I was playing until I read this thread just now. I think I'm still in (working from home, CDs or R4, shopping generally delivered).

If it's been on the tv while I was watching I didn't notice, but most of my viewing is pre-recorded, and I ff through the ads, so I don't think I've been got yet.

It appears that Absolute Radio doesn't play it.  At least, they are in the game themselves.

I got caught out last night, was doing a zoom Christmas quiz/bingo session and one of the bingo songs was Last Christmas.

Did you give her your heart last Christmas?

No, I was single last Christmas.

It looks like I'll be single this Christmas too. I did my bit, wandered round central London afterwards in an attempt to spread the InfectaVirus to the point that the gubbinment give up on all their silly restrictions, but didn't have to pay the ultimate price for this noble act and escaped unwhammed.

I thought for one horrible moment the dire musical signing-off piece at the end of today’s F1 highlights - TV's Steve Jones, Mark Webber and Crazy Davey Coulthard miming in terrible Christmas jumpers - was going to result in Whamageddon, but it turned out to be “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

Close call. Just finished watching a recorded programme, so the tv reverted to the last channel I had on: BBC2 - TOTP2 Christmas!

Luckily, the song playing was a Wombling Merry Christmas.

Now there’s a sentence I won’t type twice.

What were you doing, slumming it in there?

On the subject of slightly scuzzy northern retailers, Wilko appears to have shifted downmarket by only playing "soundalike" pop music, so it should be safe - since cover versions don't count.

I was already out, but some nobber included it in yesterday's Christmas "name that tune" quiz.  We know where he lives.

Close shave at yesterday's staff party, which, as you'd expect, I didn't attend.

Purchasing toothy comestibles!

They have Christmas Muzac on the PA. I'd survived so far. Very disappointing.

I'm still in. There again, I don't go out or watch TV, and R4 is on all day.

Feeling pretty safe at the moment.

That's just tempting me to cue it up on Youtube, phone your mobile from my landline (having concealed my number) and press 'Play' when you answer your phone  :D
That would of course mean that in the process i would have Whamageddoned myself.

Believe me, setting that up was like handling a live explosive device. It could have gone off at any moment and that would have been me out of the picture.
