How devious are we talking? Because the physio was right... last week was right at the top end of what I can do and I paid for it the following day!
We are a no for this one, I'm getting ready for my interview tomorrow.
We are a no for this one, I'm getting ready for my interview tomorrow.
OK, good luck with that.
Probably :)
Okay, I'm in. I'll come to THoFC by car if that's OK?
Well. When I was out playing on bikes this afternoon, we popped in to The Grange Arms in Hornby, where I chatted up the landlord/lady (very nice people) who said that, although they do not usually do chips, they were happy to do so for a small group of cyclists on a Thursday night, if we arrange it in advance.
Thursday is lads' night apparently, they were worried in case we were offended by bad language ;)
Open fires. Copper dragon.
Train, or are you planning to ride up? It's cheapest to get a day return to NTR and smile sweetly at the guard in the hope of not getting told off for travelling shrt on the return, if training to the start btw. The train hat gets in at 6:08 is always v busy and has 2 or 3 bikes on. I might see if I can start early enough to finish early enough for the earlier TPE.
What an excellent plan that appears to be!
I'm expecting to be train assisted from and to York, so usual sort of time at THoFC? Then back to NTR in time for the 10:30 tpe?
I'm supposed to be touring this week, but I've spent the day recovering breathing capacity from a thick cold over the weekend so haven't gone.
I may be up for Thursday - probably park my car somewhere nice near NTR and have a good day ride round the area first :)
Might give me a chance to pick up the frame as well :)
I'll be there. Not fussed about the Copper Dragon, but I do like fish fingers.
Not sure if LG will be riding. Probably not, but she said she'll pick me up if not, and just come along for the fish fingers and beer.
See you later.
I'll be there tonight. Currently sat in a pub in Bedale
Oh good. Teh boy is free this week on Thurs.
Sorry, people, can't make this one.
I won't be leaving work until 7 tonight.
Sorry, people, can't make this one.
I won't be leaving work until 7 tonight.
:( That's sad, another day, eh?
Has anyone seen my cateye light?
So is this week going to be just me then? :(
I am sorry to say that it won't include riding along an old railway line, but does have a tiny bit of COR followed by lovely quiet lane that has just been re-tarmacced!
Oh and chips. And beer.
I can actually do this Thursday, for once, so am interested...
Working on Thursday, sorry :'(
But I can't do this week :(
As I said over on the York thread (cue Ctrl+C Ctrl+V) I have Thursday with no chiddlers this week, but possibly ought to consider not riding even if there is A Plan as I appear to have a small invasion of YACFers over Fri/Sat and a bit of a bike ride to do then too... I probably ought to do some shopping and cooking and stuff :-\
Not me, sorry - back to not being free on Thursdays again. Particularly sad to be missing Shark Lane in this weather, though! :P
OK - I've 2 more weeks to go and then I'll be freeish on Thursday nights again for the summer. I hope to get out with you again at least occasionally. Unfortunately York is still too far for me to get down after work but Northallerton is just about do-able.
As regards this week, it's also 'possibly' (the limiting factor is Pugsley's lighting setup - I'd like to install something that'll last all of the ride, not just the first half of it)

The first half, weather permitting, should be in daylight anyway, it's the return from the pub that is usually in darkness (and takes ~1hour)
Some people are heading up to Durham for the Halfords Series racing and I am packing a suitcase (no, Mrs T hasn't kicked me out, I am going on holiday! :) )
Sorry, I'm at work on Thursday :(
Hi, me too if that's ok. :)
T'was good, wasn't it? :)
Lovely to catch up, drink beer, and ride home under a beautiful fading sunset, and through dark trees. Obviously not in a straight line lol :o
If ever circumstances conspire to allow it we are going to move to York.
Gits.+ Several.
Gits.
:P :P :P :P
I hate you all. You gitty gits.
Lottery day tomorrow.
So what time would that be from York on Thursday?
For old time's sake this is the proposed route for Thursday:
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=254069
Unless it chucks it down between now and tomorrow night, in which case we will do the other route.....
Probably not a good idea to bring your best bike, just a warning. Do bring a sense of humour though :)
It's looking very unlikely that I'll be able to make this.
I have assorted things (handlebar bags, pumps etc.) to give to various people, so will endeavour to do so this weekend when I'm heading up north anyway.
I've got a birthday coming up too.
I can't make it tonight - but appear to have a meeting booked in my diary for early evening of Thursday 19th July (in N/A of course) :)
Sounds good to me, Deano, I shall fit the knobblies to InBred, in fact I will do that this week, as we are repeating the COR route to Thringtoft (lumpy fields on the way out and shark lane on the way back :) )
I tried to get Robyn out too but she's otherwise busy ...
Sorry, looks like I'm out. Have fun!
"One-Eyed Dog" - good name for a beer, nicht wahr?
Ha! Now I'm sure I've got a DIY Audax that goes through Ripon.......
Phantasmagoriana?
Phantasmagoriana?
I can't see any expression of interest on the thread - but all welcome!
What time are we likely to get back to Darlo? Not sure whether to book a space for the 22.25 train...
I think that was one of the most bonkers bike rides I've ever been on.
Does that mean MrsT is coming our to play?

This Thursday I am planning to bring a tent and watch chick flicks/Disney movies with TLD and Mrs T while you lot go to the pub. Then on Friday me and Mrs T are going on a bicycle ride together.
What a gorgeous day for a bike ride, and it's forecast to stay that way all day :)

Thanks for that. There's not even a sodding window to look out of here.
Oh go on then. I'll have to sort out some decent lights before Thursday.
Aye. Where we off to?
I may manage to put in an appearance, if you make allowances forscrotesLancastrians... It might be nice to reunite Interzen with the Fisher wot he used to own
Anyone know if the A167's open Darlo-Northallerton? I heard it was shut at Great Smeaton. It's open according to this:
I doubt the lanes will be a good idea. It always floods north of Streetlam.
Pretty much as per Tan Hill night right route as far as Scotch Corner, then via Gilling West and Whorton to Barnard Castle.
Might go via Middleton in teesdale from there.
Might take you up on that - don't seem to have your number - will PM.Pretty much as per Tan Hill night right route as far as Scotch Corner, then via Gilling West and Whorton to Barnard Castle.

If you are passing this way tomorrow, and need a coffee, or just want to stop for a little bit, please feel free to pop by, I will be in all day (until about 17:30 when I need to go to the station for my train)
As it is I can't do next week anyways as I will be in Swindon :(

Oh no! Is this your last pub run, then?
unless I tell him to go to a different pub...
Crusty and LG are out to play and I can't come? :(
I shall eat chips at home, as compensation. Maybe.
Sorry, I can't do this one, I'm meant to be meeting someone locally. Not on a bike. Shocking, I know....
I'm out, sorry. Going to a lecture on Wednesday and work on Thursday.
I was actually thinking of the other direction, in light of the current forecast for Thursday, i.e. high (11 m/s) winds from the South, so head to Thirsk, which has 2 advantages:
1) It's right next to the station so any arm/knee/hip issues and CL can just jump on a train to gethomethere
2) the return journey to NTR will take about 5 nanoseconds!
We could just go to a pub near NTR station and not do the killy ice thing if it's bad?
Drink beer, talk shite
Tiermat - you know I don't come along because I organise a competing 'Beer & Theology' event every Thursday not far from the "Northallerton and Environs" socio-economic geography. I'd like you to know that I keep clicking on "Thursday Night Northallerton and Environs Social Ride" thinking - "Ooh that sounds like fun!" swiftly followed by... "d'oh".
You know that toytown is not that far from NTA and that you'd be most welcome to cycle over here for a pint and brain-ache any time you like.
:) /shyumu

Now that is an interesting invite, but are you really really sure you could cope with my take on Theology and the world around us? :)
Cool!
Bunbury, that'd be alright, if a bit fiddly. For the last bit into Darlo, there's a bike path alongside the A66, which saves you from having to divert down to the A67.
Personally, I'd follow LG's commute, along Low Lane into Yarm, then along the A67, which brings you in at the station. You only need to remember two roads!

I agree with Deano, except for avoiding the bit of Low Lane which passes under the bridge. If you are in a rush... the A67. If you have time, this (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=The+James+Cook+University+Hospital,+Marton+Road,+Middlesbrough&daddr=Stainton+to:Maltby+to:Middleton+One+Row+to:54.5230839,-1.5300162+to:Darlington&hl=en&sll=54.527059,-1.433029&sspn=0.134484,0.363579&geocode=FRxfQAMdt2_t_yF-RR9ty-o3SClL7BUDV-x-SDF-RR9ty-o3SA%3BFeHsPwMd_tXs_yl1WWtBr-x-SDGdtFUlu3tDrA%3BFQvVPwMdF4Ls_ynNvRWWp5R-SDEGwqJac5p06A%3BFaCsPwMdXLnp_ynRGBizMJd-SDE89Judyah8JA%3BFcv0PwMdYKfo_ylFiR_VL5p-SDEMDVLshqj3Tw%3BFdr2PwMdXjTo_ymJE3UtICR8SDHtUNrfWfPAhg&oq=darlington&mra=dpe&mrsp=4&sz=12&via=4&t=m&z=12) would be more prettier-more
Okay we're in. Probly on MTBs.
I hadn't planned that much off-road! about two miles, probably. I'll check the path past the dairy tonight, but I expect it to be impassable.
Fiver says he just rides along the A66.
The kitchen stops taking orders at 8.45, so that's not a problem.
Hopefully we'll be there about 8-ish.
Just to disagree with Lindagord-MURDERER-inho; I've ridden that short section of Low Lane and I don't like it. The high hedges, 50mph speed limit which is never obeyed, and fast drivers going from apex to corner to apex... There is a lovely alternative is all umh-sayin-like. Just because you "should be allowed" to ride it, doesn't mean you have to.

Deano would owe someone a fiver if anyone had taken him up on his A66 bet, because I took the Low Lane / A67 route. I have to say, I agree with Shymu. The 67 was fine but Low Lane was pretty horrible, with far too much traffic at high speed on a narrow road with not a few blind bits. I may well try the 66 next time!

You have ridden LG's new commute route. Please talk sense into her. :(
Aye, Scorton sounds good. Is Thursday night still quiz night?
21st I could do, I reckon...
Not me. Night duty tonight :(
I'm afraid I'm off to "cootchy cootchy coo" over my mate's baby daughter, who I shall be meeting for the first time. After seeing the window fitter who is coming round to quote for replacements at the Den. But probably would struggle to make it to Scorton anyway so you're best off wi'out me!
I'm still coming!
:( :( At this rate I'm going to be Billy No-Mates :(
Deano/Interzen, don't let me down! (no pressure, like :) )

Well, in fairness I did say best part of a week ago I was fairly unlikely :-\
Bullamoor works - it's a quick downhill back to town from there.
Will pugsley be making an appearance, interzen? :DNot this time - you're going to meet OrangeGina instead ;)
(I'm keeping with the 'different bike every time I see you' theme - only one more to go, I think!)
Bullamoor works - it's a quick downhill back to town from there.
Tors might have, ahem, issues with Bullamoor.

;D Tell him it's worth it.
Or just lie!
The very thought of it! I am hurt! Oh, ok then I may, sometimes not be totally truthful about the route, but this time I have been explicitily told "NO COR!"
Ah, but if we're going to the Fox and Hounds it'd be a shame not to do Foxton Lane...
On the train ...
Already had one off ... :o
Right, I'm going to go for it, pending the commute home being ok (might stick to the main roads). Should be there around 18.10.Did you make it onto the train?
I rate that #3 on the most bonkers pub runs :D
Has the snow gone yet?
I'll probably come along, as I'm not busy this Thursday. Will try not to be quite so slow as last time...
Any indications on likely distance/lumpiness/COR quotient?
COR = ZERO!
Hmm, lots of roads with "bank" in the name!
I don't think I've actually ridden up a hill so far this year. May as well make a start...
I'm going to MTFU and load up on naproxen before I leave.
I can feel I'm coming down with cold. I'll still be there - but ride down, or hop on the train?
Maybe I'll get the train to NTR to say Hi to tiptop then hang out with tiermat's girls for a bit. Would that be acceptable in their sight d'you think T?
Just curious... but does the cycling burn anything like the calories consumed on a Thursday night? Or does everyone become ascetic for the next six days? These cakes look just gorgeous.

You may be missing the point :)
Sorry, out.
*heavy sigh*
I like cake (that's obvious) and people. And bicycles. And the North Riding.
Not sure. My cold has now gone to my chest and it's cold out. Might be a bad idea. I'll see how I feel later.

We are not averse, should you so wish, to meeting you at said pubbe. Just saying, like :)
Did we come second in the quiz?
I remember having a wee in a field on the way back and falling over a bit. The beer was nice. And Deano did 95 miles before the pub run. And there was a pie with cheese in it. Chips also.
Mmmm ..... fajitas!
I shall still be going out, anyone else?
Free, but won't be riding on snow! Shall keep a weather eye on the thread ;)
If it isn't snowy/icy I could prob manage the short route round to Maundy - that is realistically about my limit on an evening, and is slightly contingent on being able to keep my eyes open for long enough! Similarly, straight up the a road to Thrintoft, I guess. Or a train to the Vale of York, depending on how people feel about a trip to Thirsk.
Well, as I say I'm very weather dependant! Ever since the Elbow I am somewhat more risk averse than I used to be. I ain't riding on snow and ice, at all. The implications of breaking something else and another 6 weeks off work being useless are too unpleasant to think about!
Me!
I expect to have a houseful of pre arrow hardy audaxers so won't be out to play. And in the event of pre arrow hardy audaxers say 'feck that for a game of soldiers' because of weather, I can't imagine that I'll be playing on bikes!
Yup, Scorton it is  don't fall asleep this time, will you?
Crusty's in. See you at the pub.
Yup, Scorton it is  don't fall asleep this time, will you?
I needs sleep for the Arrow!
I'll be on the 17.35 train. See you all there.
I mentioned it to you last year!
Yes.
Wednesday is busy - but Tuesday is free!
COR to excess probably best avoided, Crown always good....
I've even charged some batteries for my lights. Probably ought to try to dig my bike out from underneath everything, mind...
That would seem sensible. Cos I ain't up to riding home!
TPEs south from Darlo at 22.19 and 22.27
I'll aim for the train into NTR about half 7 if that works - so long as someone tells me where in town you'll end up! Then you can phone ahead orders to me if timing is tight.
Shame I will miss this, maybe next time, Clare?
Where's the pub?
I can't make it tomorrow, Phil - I'vean important work-related event I'm attending.a piss-up with work

Is that like the one I went to last night that involved stupidly expensive (but yummy) food and copious amounts of beer? :)
No problem, Mrs T has got a babysitter now, so she is joining themayhemfun. This does mean NO COR!
I might come along.
Wednesday it is then... Should get to Northallerton just after 6pm (18:07, I think). Sorry, but I'm stuck with either the 9:54 back or the 11:44 - so it's going to be belt round or really dawdle.
See you tomorrow if that's ok.
Yes to Wednesday, no for.

I can do Thursday as well, but I thought you were otherwise occupied? If not I'll have a bez out then, too!
Dean, are you riding with a spare wheel about your person? What is your technique? (I'm having a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to Torslanda's at the moment and would like to ride instead of drive.)

Well, I have seen one strapped diagonally across someone's back using what appeared to be old inner tubes. How successful it was, I've no idea. It did look rather uncomfortable though.
A LOT dryer than Wednesday night....
Who's up for next Wednesday? Looks like, at the moment, the weather is going to be kind to us...
At the Friarage?
Sorry, Ruth, I read that and then forgot.
Sorry for being totally carp...

Plonker ;)
I can do this Wednesday. Usual time at yours, t?
I've kept the bit of metal, and may frame it.
Fack! You don't do things by halves, do you!
Cheers, that looks just the ticket. Don't mind longwindedness, I'd just be going to Hawes, so might as well take the scenic route.
Oh and yes, last night was grand, even with the minor off Slowcoach had whilst trying to ride his 'bent up a small kerb...
I can't do Weds this week, but can do Thursday, any takers?
Anybody fancy a Darlo run tomorrow? Someone's coming to view my house at 7pm, so I can't get to NTR for 1830, but the viewing shouldn't take long.
I've no miles in my legs this year mind, so it might need to be shorter than usual!
I could do tomorrow?
:o
How do you make it through the day?!
Does that mean nobody will play bikes with you?
I know the feeling!
Finishing work at 18.30 most nights tiermat ...
I was about to correct you when I read the last line. Good to meet you and compliments on the bike.
Sounds like a grand night!
Phil, I'm meeting my brother in Northallerton in the early afternoon. We'll do the brother thing then arrive at yours, all being well.
Peter
Hi all, will try to join you at some point, but this week is out as we're off to Burghley Horse Trials for a few days, then the following week i really have to go to running club so wed would be out, but could stretch to a tues or a thurs?
Ah, can't make Thursday this week. I'll keep an eye on the thread, though.
Why go for a bike ride in the real world when you could watch a middle-aged German ride his bike round a track in Switzerland for an hour?
I think I'll be there. Usual time?
I was hinting that I might go for a longer bike ride down to yours :D
Hurrah! Thursday's probably best for me this week. How far do you fancy?
Hurrah! Thursday's probably best for me this week. How far do you fancy?
Which day is good? Mrs T is not back until tomorrow, but free the rest of the week.
@Ruthie, boo to work!
Sorry - I can't get down tonight. I have something come up at work which means I'll not get away.
Where did you go, in the end?
Perfect destination. Shark Lane on way back?
So is the pub run going to be a fast blokey ride from now on? Nothing wrong with that, but it's not really me.

Mrs. M is tempted by the prospect of some more sociable riding as we often ride on our own.
If I can tear myself away from work stuff , we could slow down the pace a bit for you, so long as we don't have too long a return leg.
Maunby ??
:'( something's come up at work and I'm unlikely to get there tonight after all... I will cycle up the direction of your route if I do get away at a sensible time and hopefully meet you somewhere along there. otherwise, it'll have to be another time!
What time is kick-off?
We can get there for around 6.30.
ETA: I almost forgot "Tonight, Matthew, I am going to be Casper the Friendly Ghost". You had to be there :)
Who's in for this week?
Thursday looks like it will be ok, weather wise, before rain etc on Friday and over the weekend.
I know Deano is off on his travels, again, but anyone else?
I will take the comments about last week on board and find a different location, slightly shorter route.
Just myself and Dave on Thursday just gone. A fast ride out to Maunby, beer and food was had. Even faster ride back, including a give way sign sprint up the rise to Warlaby crossroad.
Looks like next Thursday will be a nice evening, so who's in? I shall work out where we are going based on who is attending.
Sorry if I missed you asking, or forgot to reply!
We leave THoFC between 18.30 and 19.00, dependent on a) people getting here and b) destination.
Again, dependent on destination we ride for between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.
Eat drink chat, return, usually dependent on when people's trains are.
Usually back in NTR for between 21.30 and 23.00.
Remind me what sort of time I should turn up?
Bloody brilliant, that is all.
OK, in more detail, perfect weather, excellent route which included hills, lovely beer and a FAST blat back. My legs are going to feel it tomorrow, but it was worth it!
Word to the wise, never try keeping up with Bunbury!
Nice photo of Tiermat
... oh wait, I'm in there too aren't I?
Thursday next week?

I could make that. Do you let fat blokes join in?

Thursday next week?
Sorry I couldn't make it but domestic RL intervened.
Hopefully see you soon...
Ah, excellent - I was about to ask if there's a ride this week.
Dale, fancy a ride down from Darlo? I'll hopefully escape work at about 4-4.15, and I know a couple of nice routes (one nearly all offroad, but doable onna tourer).
is there any possibility of a tuesday night ride next week?
between band jobs, horses and other commitments the next few weeks are bonkers, and I'm determined to get out with you lot this year!
are we looking at the usual start point Tiernat? and what sort of time?

Anything happening over xmas..?
Sorry, no, too wild and windy, even for hardened long distance audaxers!
Thursday isn't so good for me just now. Still, I'll see what happens.Grand Central goes Sunlun > Hartlepool > Eaglescliffe > NTR
(Fboab, the Northern train is 30 minutes from Boro to Darlo, then it's one stop down the ECML to NTR on the Transpennine, the Virgin or the Grand Central.)
TPE trains also do Boro-NTR, as Pharti will know.
HPL? You really are living it up since moving north. You do own a canoe ?
I may just get to one or two rides and Wednesday is o.k by me .
Bags be back marker as I am seriously unfit at mo.
The train (there can be only one) arrives NTR 18:40. Is that close enough to usual time and place??

I up for joining you. It doesn't need to be towards Saltburn. I'm happy to go further afield. ;D
Easy access via the path leading from Yarm road bridge just past the BlueBell pub up to the church. At top of path turn right pub on right after 100 or so metres.
Thanks for organising this.
It was brilliant to ride over via Neasham with Mcshroom and Ruthie, beautiful evening sunshine and gently rolling hills. The Pot and Glass is a favourite of mine from my toytown days as it serves good ale.
Really splendid evening with Ruthie, 'Shroom, Lantern, Deano, fboab and ChrisS.
Does this event always have to be in the same place and on the same day? Routine can be a useful tool but an awful master. If this was a movable feast type event it might make it more accessible to a range of attendees.
Thanks again - it was a great night.
(Is Egglesciffe really within the environs of Northallerton? And how is Egglescliffe different from Eaglescliffe, apart from the spelling? And why is it spelt differently?)
Good turn-out in the end, so thanks everyone. The skies were amazing on the way over, I cursed myself for not having a camera, then just enjoyed the view. The Tees Valley can be like the Midwest for real big skies at times.
I was about an hour and a half early so I called in at the Costa on Yarm High Street, where the staff are so bonkers-enthusiastic that they must be angling for an award, or a slot on the local news. I heard a couple of lads on their way out mutter "they just get minimum wage, don't they?". My cappuccino had chocolate stormtroopers in the froth.
I eventually found the pub after a full tour of Egglescliffe, and Chris S was already there. Boab and lanterne rouge turned up, and we decided against a bike ride as we all had bike rides home, which was just as well, as Ruthie, mcshroom and Graeme then turned up. Some other cyclists turned up later, and we gave each other long looks. In our case, it was the possibility that they were other random cyclists off the internet who'd caught the word, and in their case, they were probably wondering where the fuck all the bikes had come from. They pegged us for cyclists straightaway, and I reckon it was Graeme's Cambridge Student Chic that really signposted it.
I nearly forgot to pay for my meal, too, Actually, I did forget, but my shamefaced honesty when the landlord shouted up that there was one meal unpaid must've been genuine enough not to cause any friction. It was the cheapest meal anyone bought, too :-[ Flying the flag for cheapskate cyclists everywhere! It was a good pub, and a good night.
Fine, lightish wind, from the west.
Where to go? Scorton? Mrs T's brother will be joining us!

That's got me smiling like an idiot, which wouldn't be so bad were I not sat in the library opposite some rather attractive ladypeople.
The King's Head at Newton under Roseberry is OK.
Oh yes! Usual start point, tonight.
Oh yes! Usual start point, tonight.
Yours at 6? I can't promise anything as I'm pretty busy this afternoon, but will try!
UPDATE - Highly unlikely I can make the 1530 GC train and the next one doesn't get in until 1840.

I can hang around for you, if you want to get here for then.
I thought I would come along tonight, but I'm a bit wheezy and will therefore be S - L - O - W.
Would that be a problem? Because I can always stay at home and watch a movie, and that's good too :)
Yeah. You dare. Go on, ask.
Yeah. You dare. Go on, ask.
OK. Is anyone up for a ride out tonight?

Tsk tsk, soft southerners!
As I haven't heard from the other Darlo resident I am thinking I might be on my own tonight. Not a problem, shall battle the rain and wind on my own, then drink one of the beers out of the beer cellar.
Each way?
I don't think I've ever averaged 14.7mph in my life ;D
Passing on the keys to the 'Durham Beer Club' : Graeme's "Bon Voyage" drinks at the Station House in Durham, Wednesday 15th June from 7pm.

Is that not the week after?
Anything happening this week?
Where to this week?
I'm calling in at Askrigg after work - so I probably won't make it to Northallerton for six, but I could meet at the pub. Is the Blacksmiths in North Cowton any use? I could then ride straight home from there for an early night.
Was planning on riding down to the pub, but I think I'll give it a miss due to weather. Some other time!

Waddya mean? It's brightening up! ;D
How about Appleton Wiske? I need to nip into the Shorthorn anyway as it's a control on my 200.
yeah, that'd work :)
T - maybe we could handover that wheel!
I think it means they're out on their bikes!

What time do you chaps usually meet up?

Any preferences of location other than the Bay Horse, Hutton Rudby? I'm guessing Yarm is the nearest rail station.

My half a plan is a little loop out to Kirklevington via Seamer and then back through Picton / Crathorne - if the weather is pants I'll just ride the 13 km or so direct via Seamer

I suspect fboab will ride straight from work - so she'll be coming from Billingham direction. I'll riskalmost certain deatha fast blat along the A173 to Ayton, and then hit the lanes through Seamer. Might catch you on the road somewhere. Last one up Hutton Bank buys a round. No... wait... dammit.
Slight hiccup in that The Bay Horse want us to book, and we can have 6:30 or 8.
I can do either but would prefer 6:30. (I'm on pretty short hours this week)
Or we could go elsewhere.
Right now I want to stay in bed for ever because everyone I work with is a twat and I hate my life. I should probably see how I feel when I've had some sleep.
I think I'm still a 'maybe'.

Yebbut, we're not work, and that's why it's OK to come. But no pressure either way.
We have a prior engagement on Wednesday but could do Tuesday or Thursday. There will be a couple of boablets but they are old enough to drink now. (How did that happen?)
I'm coming (I think - I'm still getting over a nasty cold). 6 at tiermat's as usual?
Today we had our coffee stop at Roots (http://www.rootsfarmshop.co.uk) and are tempted by their steak night on the 22nd.
Anyone else? It's not cheap. Let me know and we'll book a table.

I will nudge Mr Smith, so he can pay for my dinner and bring that box for Deano.
Are you thinking Wednesday or Thursday?I can only do Thursday, this week
I can't make it tonight - sorry if I was unclear before. Are Wednesdays better for you Pharti? It's only this week we couldn't do Wednesday, usually I'm easy either way.

Bring a bike- you can always kip at ours?
I'll be riding over from TheotherBorough after work. Where am I heading for in Darlo?

The Hole in the Wall in the marketplace. Next to the Dolphin Centre.
I am, of course, available to meet up and guide folks into Darlo. Let me know, or else I might do some overtime. Or go for a bike ride.

I am going to be heading in via Scorton, Moulton and Stapleton, if you fancy riding out that way?
I'm still at work, and it doesn't look like I'll be leaving any time soon :(
OMG It's the One Direction round. KMN
FYL
Did we win
Only morally
As the concensus seems to be Thursday (it works better for me, too), shall we head for fish finger butties, via Upsall?
Possibly not as I have managed to get myself a chest infection :(

GWS Phil!
The quiz at the White Heifer on Thursday is meant to be good:
https://www.whiteheiferthattravelledpub.co.uk/
It's a bit out of town, but it's a decent enough chain pub. You can get to it from the east side of town all on paths, too.
I don't fancy the humiliation of the music quiz again quite yet...
I am definitely out as I am due to have a chest CT scan at 19.00 on Thursday, sorry.
Right, well, since the thread died as soon as I said I might come I might just give up once and for all and let you all get on with it.Nothing personal, Ruthie. I am away from home for 3 days so disappearing on Thursday night might not be an option. WE might try to get there with a bit of motorised cheating.
Whatever.
We had Date Night
ETA: Me and Mr Smith, not me & Deano
Also, might as well throw this one out there; would anyone be up for a camping trip on a Friday/Saturday night up to Tan Hill (or similar) sometime this summer?
I'm not desperate, but I might be up for a pint. Mr Smith is stupid busy with work.
Tan Hill - This month or next? Friday or Saturday?
Which pub, by the way?It has a tractor outside
Anyone playing out this week?
I'm still 'up' for a Tan Hill overnighter if that's a goer this week?
Does your idea of "overnighter" mean last orders, drink up ,ride home or is it breakfast with beer?
Well, I'd given up on you lot, so me and a mate are hiding from the rain in a pub at Neasham. Is it pissing down there as well?
Tomorrow, then?
Dare I suggest Stainton or Maltby again? :) I'll prod lanterne_rouge as well in case he can hang around after work.
What's the Manor house like? And there's always the Fox. Or whatever that place in the middle of Toytown's called.

Manor House gets OK reviews on Trip Advisor - it's a mid-range chain pub. Sounds like The Fox TBF, but we haven't done this one yet - and you never know, it maybe Parmo night tomorrow ;).
We'll head for there then -unless there's a flash flood in the Leven and we can't get across.
ETA: Oh wait - no need for us to cross the Leven. Yay!
...I'll not be eating anyways.
Is it tonight?
:(
I am planning to be at Tan hill on Tuesday 15th as a stop on my Pennine Way jolly.......probably not a lot of good for you Deano?
Oh no wait, I've got work, damn :'(
I'd rather do Farmer's at Scorton, the beer and Parmos are better.

I know it's shocking isn't it? :o Like Scotland, the northeast of England is an area that I know very little about which is shameful really, these matters need resolving.

Suits me. Tiermat was on about getting his bike+self to Darlo after work - is that still the plan, t?

Well, according to the latest copy of Arriivee, you've already sampled our motorway network......
Despite growing up in Newcastle I didn't have Parmo until we moved up here.I've still never had one. It's definitely a Tees thing.
Lucky for us, Marco's in Guisborough gets a 5 star rating from the Parmo Hunters (https://www.facebook.com/ParmoHunters/) so we are well served.
Back to the topic in hand, the norwegians are offering a 'fresh breeze' from the West (this usually translates into 'Block Headwind') tomorrow evening, but no rain. I may therefore stay longer than 30 seconds this week.
Are we sold on Hutton? Or any other suggestions?

I was going to, but work has gotten in the way, so I am doubtful for tonight.
This might not happen but I could well be staying in Thirsk on the night of Wednesday 27th September. Is Thirsk within your area of operation and if so might I meet up with you lot for a few beers and a bite to eat? I shall be without bike (probably) but can use a car or taxi.

Brilliant! Thirsk is where I grew up and the location of one of our local pubs! Where you staying?
Sounds very much like a plan to me.

Pub? Not Wetherspoons, unless you fancy a fight.
The Crown and Anchor is not far from where OD is staying and (if my memory serves) does food.
Otherwise try Darrowby Arms or the Little Three.
We'll meet at the Crown and Anchor for 7 ish. It's walking distance from the Premier Inn (just along Gravel Hole Lane) and also convenient for the ride back to York - Karl?
Trains back aren't terrible - there's a Grand Central at half 9 which would get you to YarmI might make this and will be looking at that train back.

Sorry, I'm out too. Bit of a physical issue that probably wouldn't be helped by sitting on a Brooks Cambium. On a train to Glasgow instead.Has OD ever mentioned his healing hands?
I'm still going! Should be there for 7 ish.
Nice to meet you OD, and thanks for the grub!
I'm off to see Martin Carthy at MIMA tomorrow if anyone fancies a night of hard folk :)So am I and so is my friend :)
When are you here?I'm right here, right now... Arrived a few hours ago. I'm "working from home" for the next few days... So if Wednesday is no good could do Thursday?

Sorry to read about your aunt, Phil. Shall I head straight to yours tomorrow, then we can nip up the road to Welbury? I should be at yours no later than half five. And that would get us to the pub for 6.45 ish.
Fine with me, Chris. The search for a non-boozy location continues. I asked around, and someone suggested the Potting Shed in Northallerton - it's quite new but a bit inconvenient.
How about Wednesday, and Welbury? The food there was alright when we went last year. It's mutually inconvenient, I reckon.
Yes! 7 ish?Works for me.
Yes! 7 ish?
Anyone there yet? I'm debating whether to get coffee in YarmI'm here, having coffee. I did consider a coffee in Yarm but my feet are wet enough
Where's Hutton Rudby?Gah. We could have done Egglescliff.
*googles*
Ah. Maybe not!

Y'all should come down to York on Saturday instead. Confirmed forumite tally is currently me, Deano and Dale afaik, plus possibly Yorkie
Dean - what's the track between Raisdale Mill and Scugdale Hall like? ISTR you've ridden that OK?
You see this Veloviewer square thing, is there a thread on here about it?
No spokes. Should've went to the pub ::-)
Anyone for this week? Thursday better for me, this week.
Parmo madness at Hutton Rudby?
What's the chances of finding somewhere mutually acceptable to those riding that's near a station? I could, theoretically, get a train to somewhere...Parmo madness at Hutton Rudby?
Why not!
Trains are massively cheaper with the longer-walk (no bike reservations available on the TPE) option to Yarm by the look of things.
I suspect it'll be around 8ish for me - just realised I won't make the early train so prob arriving in Yarm about half 7.

I won't be. Having checked train times and tumble dryer spin cycles, I've just realised my lights (and Deanos!) are at my girlfriends... :facepalm:So where are you going and when? I'm confused*

Super clarity- We'll all be in the Pot & Glass (http://www.potandglassfolkclub.co.uk/page4.html) @ Egglescliffe by 8pm.
More seriously: should we book? Or head elsewhere?
Anyone out this week?
OD, the best parmos are on Yarm Lane in Stockton.
Mr Smith is in his sick bed but I could go out and play.
The best parmos are from the Chipsale Chippy in 'Boro.
Although the voters said something different: https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/best-parmo-teesside-recap-countdown-11891496
Anywhere with a Parmo Hunters (https://www.facebook.com/ParmoHunters/)5 star rating will be worth eating.
Maybe! Deano has a birthday we should toast..
Wednesday or Thursday would be fine.Is that your guesstimate of how long the hangover will last? :D

Scorton is a bit too far for me to ride home on a school night, so we have a CUNNING PLAN which means J, I can offer a motorised lift home for you and your clown bike if you like?
I start my new job on Monday, in that there NTR. So probably, yes
Bah - working on Wednesday. Have fun, all!Bah!
Are we on for this week, then? If so where shall we go? North or South? If you want to leave the van here, no problem.
How on earth would we decide who would stoke?!?Change ends at half time, obviously.
I'd forgotten about the TPE bike reservations thing. Arse.
I made CrinklyLion snort unattractively with laughter at the suggestion we could use the tandem...
This Tuesday, Darlo. Pub TBC.
Bunbury's last pub run before he flies south for the winter. Anyone else around?
How far away from the station do you work these days Ruthie? Are you at the memorial hospital? In which case, how about I get the train that arrives at18231833 and we wait for you to turn up. Deano, which pubs do you suggest?
I saw Bunbury the last run before he went rimming, so it'd be good to see him tomorrow if possible.

The Pacific rimming has finished! It came to a successful climax when I decided to junk the southern half of the ocean and ride home round the world instead. You can read about it in the link in my sig.
