I think the Indian players are paid well enough these days that betting fixes would be harder to pull off. Though it might be an explanation for the 100% over-30 England team wanting to top up their pensions. On a more serious note - well down Pakistan and South Africa today for a truly exciting finish. Pakistan are the team adding the excitement to this tournament.

Actually, that level had already been achieved four years ago when Jack Leach batted for 1 run while Ben Stokes made hay. So it's not another level. But it is astonishing, almost incredible - except that this sort of thing seems to keep happening, which is great! Benborp, I've been wondering why Maxwell no longer makes the Test team. Is it his own decision?

It was more the support that Cummins was providing to someone that could no longer move at the crease let alone make a run. Deciding to bat out a maiden to give Maxwell the strike is extreme.

Over the last couple of years he's been selected for tour squads and then not made the playing eleven. He spoke about being elated at making a return and then being hurt at not being selected to play.

He also said that missing out on a test place on the India tour due to his leg injury will nag at him for ever.

Cheers, Ben - your point about Cummins is good. I could only surmise from reading the score sheet as I wasn't able to watch or listen. I do hope Maxwell recovers and gets another chance (or becomes a naturalised British citizen, overnight!).
