Which French maps show campsites?

The Michelin Local maps used to show all the sites listed in the Michelin guide.

These Local maps used to be 1:175000 and showed the sites.

Now they seem to be 1:150000 and don't.

My experience is that there are far more campsites than marked on any of the maps. The ones on the old Michelin maps were the ones in their campsite guide.

I usually get mine for one of these sites:

HPA Guide: France Camping. Complete directory of 3047 campsites in France

Michelin maps show only those listed in the Michelin guide for the year the map was printed.  ie not many.

Like bikepacker, I use many websites to find campsites, I'm taking a break from doing that right now.  Along with those he suggested I use the website for Tourist office office de tourisme et syndicat d'initiative en france, carte de france and I often just put camping and the name of the town into Google.  Mappy(a mapping site like multimap) also shows campsites, if you click the button, although again they list only a few.

Oddly, this site is pretty good as well Caravan Sitefinder :: Caravanning, camping, camp sites, holidays, tents, motorhomes, outdoor, UK, Wales, Scotland

These are the others tucked away in Favourites.  Some are no good because thye are for holidays, not moving on.  Where possible I use little Municipal sites in villages or small towns.  Very good value for money, and bags of local flavour.

I agree that Michelin maps didn't show all sites but in my experience they showed enough and negated the need to do research beforehand and / or carry heavy guide books.

However, the Michelin maps I have just taken delivery of are much nicer than the old ones and show much more detail thanks to the better scale. Although they don't show camp sites they do show voies verts (green ways) which we are particularly interested in.

One solution would be to set out our route on the maps and then mark them up with the camp sites mentioned on the web and in the guides. Could be a nice winter project.

That what I do. I just put a "CS" near the spot where the campsite should be. Seems to work okay.

to set out our route on the maps
That does not work for me because when on tour in Europe I tend not to have a route in mind, just an end destination every few days.  So what I do is look for campsites where I think I might be going and more than that I look for sites within a particular area, say a 15 mile radius.  So if I am having a hard day due to weather or so on then I can abbreviate my ride, and vice versa if going well.  Michelin maps show far too few for that.  I have been caught out by my meanderings, but generally campites are common and I've managed to find one when needed.  There are however some parts of France which are positively camp site deserts.
