Not sure if this one counts as sensible or silly, tbh...

Back when dinosaurs stalked the LaBrea Tar Pits the IHPVA held a sprint event in one of LA's "rivers".  Always the risk of falling foul of a Terminator in a stolen lorry if you muck about down there.

Or Giant Ants!

As strange as it might sound, it is considered normal in french-inspired cultures to see moped riders on cycle paths.

Indeed, that was in Morocco and a lot of the scooters were slower than me, being weighed down with entire families plus a month's fuel and shopping. They also tended to slow to around 10 km/h when on the phone.

The sign is eminently sensible - the cars and lorries stay out of the cycle lane, and the cyclists, donkeys, scooters, horse carts, etc have their own stretch of tarmac.

Sharing with donkeys and scooters sounds fairly reasonable, as long as the dedicated stretch of tarmac is wide enough and smooth enough.

Indeed, it was absolutely brilliant! Rush hour in Marrakech was something else entirely. I only saw two crashes - both moped v taxi - and am astonished that was all.

Once saw a Moroccan donkey come off very second-best in a scrap with a Volvo F16

Pray tell us, Deano, where that is, that we might avoid it like the cliché.

The Green Dragon, Hardraw - I reckon it's a ruse, cos you have to go through the pub to Hardraw Force, and if you go round the back, you can avoid paying. Or they could be serious.

This makes me think about all the "Please drive carefully through our village" signs. Does it mean that I am allowed to drive recklessly anywhere else?

...and also reminds me of the sign I saw in what passes for a central reservation in the middle of travel-choked Chennai, the irony of it's location in the middle of dense exhaust fumes not lost on me: "Smoking is injurious to the health."
