Surprisingly detailed report for as local newspaper website of the inquest into the death of Charles Stringer and subsequent "Prevention of Future Deaths" report.

According to the news article, Charles hit a pothole, punctured and was thrown against an iron railing, suffering a fatal injury.

The pothole had been reported three times before Charles hit it and it seems the coroner is not impressed by the lack of action from Surrey County Council or their framework contractor at the time, Kier Integrated Services.

In her PFD report, Dr Henderson said there had been “a lack of reflection by SCC (the council)” following the tragedy and the management of potholes had not changed as a result.

The council officials and contractors have been given 56 days to respond by explaining what changes have been made or why it is felt that no action is necessary. In a statement issued to SurreyLive, a spokesperson for the council said: "We are reviewing the report and will respond to the coroner in due course.”

I'm keeping an eye on this one.

If you want an anecdote about Kier, they came up our road the other week to fix a pothole. We did then notice them chasing their unattended roller down the 25% hill.

No, they didn't fix the pothole (which still remains holey). Presumably that was enough excitement for one day.
