Regent's park after a 2 year lay off.

Regent's park beckons.  I've got the fixed, I've got the HRM, I've got the lard.   I haven't done this in anger since 2007 after the Etape.  I think it is going to be:

1) Slow
2) Painful

Ho hum.

Good luck. After a 2-year lay-off I'm contemplating that insane Welsh 1000 next summer.  Further off but still as f'in scary.

Not all bad.  4 laps at about 20 mph, last one flat out at 22.   Not a patch on 2007, but not quite as bad as I feared.   Based on the HRM, I'm 25% less efficient than I was, taking 1390 calories for the whole thing, rather than 990.   Letting the other roadies flow past me hurt - I'd have had them in the past, no problem.  I won't take long to get everything sorted....

My goal is this:

Tour d'Afrique Ltd. | Global Bicycle Expeditions, Races and Tours

maybe next year.  Might settle for something more sane next year, and go for this the year after.

Edit.  I've downloaded the graphs.   4 days after the Etape in 2007, I did 5 laps of the park at 22mph average, with an average HR of 140 - so pretty much aerobic.    Yesterday I did 5 laps at  20 mph average...with an HR of 160.   That'll be quite some loss of fitness!

How did the weather conditions compare?
