Dog not well
« on: 07 November, 2008, 08:37:48 am »
He started with a cough the night before last. I thought he's got something stuck in his throat, but since yesterday evening he's been coughing up clear fluid.

Off to the vet's this a.m.

Kennel cough! And he's never even seen a kennel.

Antibiotics, moistened food, short walks, no excitement, no ball-chasing pro tem.

The dog that I'm 'fostering' (fostering my arse, she's clearly staying with me for ever and ever) was refused into one shelter (before I offered to foster her) because they'd had a really bad outbreak of kennel cough and didn't want any newcomers to get it.

I thought dogs were vaccinated against it, but could be wrong, it probably depends.

Hope Morphy is a good boy about taking his pills.

Show dogs and dogs that are kept together or often in close contact with "strange" dogs can be vaccinated but it is not totally effective.
