Rather nice instant camera
« on: 03 May, 2016, 09:47:22 am »
I was watching "Silk Road" on BBC4 and the presenter Sam Willis was using a rather nice instant camera to take photos for his journal. It wasn't huge like a Polaroid.
I think it was probably a Fuji Instax Mini 90.
Looks ace, only about £100 but the cost per shot of film !!!!
£12 for 20 photos.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

So it's much cheaper than polaroid was (allowing for inflation), and much cheaper than the new polaroid replacements.

Ignoring the small size of the prints, it's comparable with dev + print minilab cost, and you don't have to shoot a whole roll to get your print.

I've been shooting with a variety of Instax cameras recently (Mini and Wide) and the film is pretty good value when you compare it to any of the other, dwindling options for instant photography.  75p for a print that makes someone smile is good value and if you don't want to buy a new camera, get a second hand Instax - the technology is identical.  The current ones are just like the old ones, but with new styling.
