Title: Work stands
Post by: He’s off again on 21 March, 2021, 08:34:56 pm
I’m finding it quite diificult to use an ordinary work stand on my bent.

Any ideas or tips? For now I’d just love to bet back end off the floor to fine tune gears.

Mini workstands of the type that support a bike by the seatstay/chainstay are useful for adjusting gears.  I do everything else at floor level.

Hanging the whole bike from the ceiling on pulleys seems to work well, if you have a suitable ceiling.

I've heard of people using appropriately-fettled wooden bracket in the clamp of a Workmate to support the frame of a recumbent trike.

I use a old cheapo turbo trainer to get the back wheel of my ‘bents off the ground for gear adjustment.

I find the most frustrating thing is that with the cranks at one end of the bike and the gears at the other, I can’t turn the pedals and make fine adjustments at the same time without enlisting an assistant.

Go friction on bar end levers.  No adjustment necessary 😀

Can't remember where I got this one, had it years, std clamp, at a jaunty angle , grasping the seat tube. Works well, this one, it does.
