Strap on Brompton block
« on: 29 October, 2011, 04:37:51 pm »
Now that I have a Brompton, Tiddles, I wanted to standardise the luggage with my other folder, Granville.  The obvious solution was to get a Brompton block onto Granville.
I bought a new block from Ebay for £9.50 and then made a 'strap on'.

I used a bit of steel tube, cut in half lengthways and welded a small bit of 8mm steel on the front.  That was then drilled and tapped to M5.

I sprayed the whole thing in primer and then slipped a bit of inner tube over it to protect the headstock tube.
It was then clamped on with two decent quality hose clips.

Note the Oak socket on the Oxford bag for the Bromton block.

If a Brompton is the epitome of Britishness, having one with an oak luggage system just goes off the Britishness scale!

Not sure how oak fits into the Hungarian vibe with Granville, but I'm sure they have oaks in Hungary!
