Cat found dead...
« on: 02 May, 2011, 02:37:11 pm »
... under a large laurel bush at the bottom of our garden.  It's been dead for some time (2-3weeks), and more or less dried out (with all the dry weather).  There have been no missing cat notices up, and this cat appears to have no collar. What should we do?

If it is not your cat, put it in the wheelie bin.

I recommend taking it along to your local vets surgery.

They will
1. Scan it for a microchip so the owner can be contacted if it has a chip
2. Compare it's appearance with their record of local cats reported missing (all vets have a little book for this)
3. Keep it for a while in their freezer to see if anyone comes forward before sending it off for cremation if not

:( poor cat

Thanks. In the end mrs ao asked around  - and a neighbour thought she knew of someone around the corner with a similar cat.  It was theirs and the chap came and picked it up - they knew it must be dead, but not what had happened...
