4, 5. A road that has been truncated by the '70s-built A361 North Devon link road at Knowstone Inner Moor. The road once connected Knowstone to Rackenford and since abandonment the poles have been left, wires attached to insulators. The poles are on a very exposed site and some are leaning with the prevailing wind. The bike is a Matchless G80 500 from 1948. OS 181.836218

It depends whether you're in the northern or southern hemisphere, obviously. If the airport is right on the equator, your luggage will sink straight down to the centre of the earth and never be seen again.

At Glasgow, I've seen individual bottles of toiletries appear on the belt. It must be like The Fly, where some stuff accidentally gets turned inside out.

When people talk about The Fly it always makes me think of a completely different film, by Irvine Welsh, in which someone is changed into a fly. A few seconds with Prof Google tells me the film was called The Acid House and that particular story (out of three in the film) was The Granton Star Cause, but more interestingly it includes one of our esteemed forumites:
"The Granton Star Cause": A comedy, in which Boab is having a very bad day indeed. His parents throw him out so they can indulge in sado-masochism and he is sacked from his job, dumped by his girlfriend and dropped from his football team. It has elements of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis. One of the characters is a pitiless and profane God, who transforms him into a fly as punishment for wasting his life. Named after an Edinburgh housing district, "The Granton Star Cause" was filmed on location in the area as well as nearby West Pilton, including Ferry Road Drive.

I worked for the IBA and descendant private companies in the 80's and 90's. Our transmitters were only a bit more modern. Tuning Klystrons at 25 Kw of RF power..Taking the back panels off and turning off the lights to see what was flashing over. 20kV 100kW power supplies go bang spectacularly...ah..memories..

Speaking of the IBA reminds me of a family my sister used to babysit for in the 70s. He was an exec for the IBA in Yorkshire, having originally been employed in THAT LONDON. Of course, in the 70s, Yorkshire was in the DARK NORTH and thus, apparently, somewhat lacking in civilisation. In recognition of this fact, as part of his renumeration he received a hardship allowance.
